It only happens when they think they aren't making money if you get a lot of people to show them; otherwise, they would properly reopen it like Playstation did with PS3. But everyone on Xbox isn't like Playstation gamers; they always buy the new console, buy the newer games, and never look back to the old. Not everyone remembers the original Xbox; when you mention it, they say 360.
Honestly, PS3 should have kept it closed, or at least shut down the network for online games, so there would be no modders stealing accounts or getting you banned.
Xbox should do the same thing, and then the problem would be solved. But Xbox always shuts down old consoles just like ubisoft shuts down games online services after so long.
And it shuts down the option of having a 16-letter gamertag when the store goes down unless you create a whole new account. But most likely, Xbox will shut down the entire service at some point.
Still, as someone who spent close to a grand on Rockband accessories that will not work on the XBox One, it's unfortunately.
I don't think any kid plays 360 as of today. They are on Xbox Series X, S, or Xbox One. 360 is too old, and parents wouldn't want to waste money on something that doesn't even get games anymore, or they would hear kids whining, "I want this game."
I guess sometimes all you can do is watch something slowly destroy itself. It's like finding an old friend who had everything going for them, only to see them landing in a bad crowd and wasting away a decade later in an alleyway somewhere.

Unless online services get shut down. If they get shut down you can play them games but not online.
It took them a long time, too. but not fully shut down, so you can still buy disks for it. if your disc tray works.
Yep that where all old Gen consoles go but too make sure no can use it or grab it out of the trash when they see it pour water all inside it. So it ruined. No point in giving someone a free console. It would be easier to sell them but retailers don't buy them anymore or give decent amount.
Still more valuable than anything the xbox brand has released in these past 10 years
It's worse when they see their favorite game getting shut down because game developers can shut down their online game at any time with no refunds.
True, somewhere along the line Xbox lost its way. I miss the 360 dashboard.
