Why do people assume the gender of dogs?
I'm told that I'm supposed to use "they" instead of "he or she", even if the player has a name like "RandomDude123".

Yet when it comes to dogs, people seem to have no problem assuming their gender. "I see a weiner, looks like a boy to me!"

Why are we allowed to assume the gender of dogs based on their physical characteristics?

Dogs are innocent, humans are are not, they are capable of huge deception.

Because it's just easier and funnier to call them ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

If gender is a social construct, then it did not develop in dog society, and all you can go by is by the biological sex. There is also a larger communication barrier which prevents us from asking the dog, again, forcing us to make assumptions. Though people are also often comfortable using the true gender neutral third person pronoun it with a dog as well.
Because unlike humans dogs don't care or mind they are misgendered.

Snakes, lizards, beetles, fish, and birds, to name a few, all exhibit “transgender” behaviours in which males imitate females to gain advantages, including reduced competition, better access to territory, and improved mating opportunities.

To name a few:
- Clown Fish
- Slipper Limpet
- Bearded Dragons
- Cardinals
- Chickens
- Bearded Dragons
- Lions
- Calfiornia Sheephead Fish
- Green Frogs

Dogs are known to be homosexual, etc, but not transgender as far as I'm aware? A female dog has been known to pee like a male dog with it's leg up rather than squatting. However, it's never been confirmed that it's thinks it's the opposite gender or not.

There's only be rare cases of hermaphrodite dogs (having both the male and female genitals).

I'd like to add there is also several birds that pretend they are females to actually get closer to females to have sex with them, lots of lizards are confusing and act like females or males when they aren't, usually more species that are hard to distinguish which is what, they probably do this on purpose, as for other strange phenomenon some reptiles can actually create eggs on their own which is essentially cloning themselves which is a process i forgot the scientific name for, but essentially what happens is many reptiles can change sex depending on the temperature or something like that and this is the result of that.

There is also a lizard specie around Mexico that is always female but can produce eggs on their own and they often have sex with other lizards of their specie even though it's maybe unnecessary or they just want to spread their genes and not being incestuous of themselves, so you could argue they are lesbians.

What I'm getting from this is that the OP has started playing videogames with dogs and is now confused.
