Can a stone get hotter than the ambient temperature?
Lets say there is a desert and the ambient temperature is 50C in the blazing hot sun. And there is an almost black stone the size of a potato. Will the stone be hotter than 50C or will it be less.

As a rule of thumb, dark objects absorb and emit heat faster than bright objects.
Unless a completely unreactive object has a perfect reflective surface, it sure as heck has potential of getting hotter than the ambient temperature.
Dark objects don't absorb or emit heat faster. Dark objects absorb light and convert it into heat.

Heat, light, etc. It's all energy.

Try walk on asphalt barefoot during hot sunny day... :steammocking:
