This is every where and not just the States " about Public pools
"Why America stopped building public pools" headline from CNN

They stopped building them because people relieve themselves in the pool and not enough chlorine can clean that up

The parks here in Ottawa now just add sprinklers from brightly painted curved pipes the kids and dogs run through

The outdoor public pool I used to swim at in the late 70's early 80's was nicknamed the piss pool

We cant have nice thing's because people or ignorant and selfish

I was born in Chico (Northern) California in Butte County in the 80s and an influx of India people came in and a lot of them (not all) but many of them pooped and peed in the park river. You could literally see chunks of poo float down where the parks are which stretch from east Chico into downtown with a bunch of trails that go into the trees all the way downtown. Dad wouldn't let me go into the river and I was mad then but thankful now.

When walking Chico Mall you'd hear a lot of heavy Indian accents more so then English the thing is it isn't necessarily their fault since it was common practice where they are from (at that time) to do that where we think it's gross and unsanitary (which it is) but they didn't realize that.

hahaha. i remember as a kid i used to pee in the school pool while swimming about with the other kids, so no one knew who it was. i almost drowned once as well.
I remember hearing about public pools disappearing in the 90's and now they are gone out here in the UK.

Hadn't heard that one. I enjoy swimming and have done so both at the gym and at lakes this year.

I can't pretend that lakes don't have millions of things going on in the water I'd rather not know about. You can't exactly unlearn that you've got microscopic mites on your eyelashes, nah?

you are covered in microscopic lifeforms regardless, you even have them inside of you and the ones on the inside are symbiotic, they need you as much as you need them. not bad for a lifeform made up of millions of individual cells.

so swimming in those petri-dishes isn't gonna really change anything, except you'll be covered in even more of them.

One person is intelligent, a crowd of peoples is not.
Yep, why I never learned to swim.

Swim in lakes and rivers instead.

Only the ones you're used to.
Oh, you're going to have it your way, or nothing at all.

I've seen pools that have some special chemical in it that detects pee. So whenever someone pees in the pool it makes all the water around them turn to a dark blue color

Bet that would discourage people from doing it

Kids will pee in pools, though. It is what it is. It is probably more sanitary to have public sprinklers anyway, especially since brain-eating amoebas exist in pools that get too warm and aren't chlorinated enough.

Just watch out for bears and moose. They tend to do their business there sometimes.
