That´s why i rarely watch it - or racing in general. And nowadays it´s more about technical helpers, about full throttle or braking.
Imho the pinnacle of racing was rally driving in the 80s, which those drivers and those cars - which demanded actual skill. A driver, perhaps a co-driver, a car, a track, a clock. But i wouldn´t want to see it live at the track either...

It may look ordinary but I had to judge my braking point to consider the cars in front and behind me, then the cars up front slowed down much quicker than I thought so had to take some evasive action.
And believe it or not Im ignorant of other sports that people for some reason like. The fkin american football just looks like a buncha stereoided men shoving each other, actual football is just people running around trying to kick a ball, and boxing just seems like people getting beat up with no rhyme or reason. Dota/League esports is just things happening on screen... etc
But then I remember, just like motorsport, there's probably some techniques going on Im not understanding.
Not understanding the sport = you dont know what youre watching = boring
But in case of technique - it´s just a different footwork, nowadays (and that´s even 20 years ago, as i haven´t found a newer video in a hurry) they can just go full throttle and don´t need the clutch, so it´s as You said "only" about finding the right point to brake:

Sure, I know what everybody knows, but that's such a lack of knowledgde to be able to understand what's it all about that it shouldn't really be surprising for me to see it in such a negative light, right?
