The controversy is the location he chose to shoot the video at and the history of said location given the context of the song.

Are you people oblivious or just dense?
what's the history of the court house?

(I suppose I fall under the "oblivious" category)

Also, a white mob pulling an 18-year-old black kid out of his cell from said courthouse, tying him to a car and dragging him through town before hanging him in front of said courthouse.

Damn. It's exactly as I thought it would be.
What a shame :(

Thanks for sharing

(I wonder if there's a court house around the area that doesn't have some sort of sordid history though perhaps that's what they were going for.)

There's a few holes in that theory. Firstly, Aldean didn't choose the location. Secondly, it's a popular site for filming, including several music videos, none of which anyone has tried to tie to any kind of "dog whistle." And lastly, you had to dig deep to even find that information, "dog whistles" only work when something in them is identifiable as such to the so-called racists you think are roaming around waiting for it. It wasn't any kind of "dog whistle."

It was chosen because it's a location local to the Nashville area... you know, where the vast majority of that genre music is filmed and recorded.

Which brings us to the real issue. Who is spreading the hatred and division in the country? Aldean? Or people spreading that misinformation to try to make something a racial issue when it isn't so they can feel vindicated in their own hatred and bigotry towards other Americans? And no surprise it seems the major sources disseminating the theory you've pushed are NBC, CNN, NYT, and WaPo.

Stop being part of the problem, and stop letting corporate media do your thinking for you. There's nothing wrong with the video unless you are desperately in need of something to be wrong with it.

Even other country artists and CMT are calling him out. This isn't exactly a left-wing crusade.

Yeah? And? CMT is owned by Viacom.

Well they had to dig back nearly 100 years to find that one thing to try to make an issue out of. Despite it being a common filming location for music videos in the area... That history only seems to be applicable when Aldean uses it.

The songs theme is vigilante justice. It isn't a hard stretch to understand why this location would be inappropriate.

Bet you people would raise hell if there was a Muslim music video shot in a certain field in Pennsylvania.

No it isn't. It doesn't say anything about vigilante. Again, you people are reading ♥♥♥♥ that ain't there then use that as an excuse to tear someone else down so you can feel better about your own hatred and bigotry. People are done listening to this nonsense. It's childish and petty.
A moron exercising his freedom of speech & artistic expression. Nothing to see here.

*I like the "Beat It" guitar solo
