At least they are writing their own songs, unlike those vaporwave bums and hack electronic DJs. And yes, I am including Daft Punk.
So metalcore is a combination of "Extreme Metal" and "Hardcore Punk"? So be it. And i guess if they add too much melody it needs to be another genre called "melodic metalcore." And if it´s about lyrics after the bombs fell - it´s "post-apocalyptic melodic metalcore." And if they add some psychedelic parts it´s "transcendent post-apocalyptic metalcore" - and if they add more of it it´s "post-apocalyptic spacecore".
I mean that´s perhaps funny for the musicians, but not the best way for the music. Here, when they didn´t call it metalcore, but crossover - while it nowadays probably sounds more like "extreme metal" and less like "hardcore punk".

its not the worst genre out there, that goes to rap imo.
There is some degree of musicianship in metalcore especially a well laid out solo riff on lead guitar. So its not all bad.
They have all copied each other. Copy soundtrack, paste nonsense words that has no meaning.
Peace of mind - hardcore
Gangsta's paradise - Hardocre
but then metal is just the sound of metal since all these songs have been generated in a music studio.
Mr.MTV is hardcore metal but you may as well know the irony of these songs is subliminal how they are just jokes made up where everyone join the train into the great depression.
I think the modern DJ culture is far worse. It is agonizingly artistically bankrupt.
Not to harp on Daft Punk, because I do like some of their music, but they are famous for what is essentially chopping out bits of old songs no one knows then playing it on a loop, adding virtually nothing to it
