Men cry?
Do you think that Men can actually cry? and if they cry what could be the reason for that? If a Football Team they love loose maybe or if they didn’t eat a good Steak for a while since their Wife forced them to be a Vegan….. But usually we don’t do that i would say. Let me know in the Comments below

What is this fascination with glorifying grown adults failing to control their emotions over petty things like their favorite ball team losing?

There are a lot of times where it's acceptable to cry bit one thing that happens often is learning about historic events of serious importance, either really good or really bad.

Sure. Men can cry but make sure its for the right reasons.

Crying because you got yelled at or some sportsball team lost or a new capeshit movie trailer dropped is not a right reason...

I think tearing up for whatever reason is fine just don't expect sympathy from others if it isn't due to something they can relate to.

The way you said that makes men crying seem like a problem. Not just any problem, a problem that needs to be fixed. I got news for you, if it ain't broken don't fix it. It's okay for a man to show his feelings. Get with the times old man.

Even my papa understands this and he might be older than you. (-.-)

Ah Q-T_3.14 my long time forum nemesis, how are you today... anyway back to topic.

Im someone who has worked with other working class men most of my life and one thing for sure, you don't burst out in tears in front of them. Because you would be chastised and looked upon as soft/weak.

Clearly, sometimes it's alright for a man to cry in public and no one would think any less of you.. times such as your mother dying, a child dying, a fallen solider in battle, your wife/partner. But a fella crying because someone hurt his feeling is clearly a NO NO, period. But worst ones are the guys who film themselves and post it on social media.

Granted I admit, im maybe a little old school:steamhappy:
youre not a man if you dont cry

Of course men cry. The problem is only real men can admit it.

Men cries by drinking beer on the sofa and yell at the kids that they will spank them if they catch them (but they never do because they cant be bothered to get up)! Or was that grandpas?

EDIT:

Memes aside, of course men can cry and there is nothing wrong with it. It might not be appropriate in every situation, though.

I kind of think that I understand where you come from as I've read your posts before and almost straight down the middle agree and disagree with you at any given time. If pushed, I'd say I mostly agree though.

Do you think that as a man it is important to work against that age-old mindset that crying is weakness? As a man, do you find that you are and can be your own person, outside of societal expectations; to hide things, suffer in silence, things like that? If so, don't you think that such things should be counteracted with real men displaying openly that you can be a human being and with a gentle strength that is so unique to men?

What's ironic is that true weakness is in haughtiness, feigned superficial strength and a lack of humility. When men are real, that is beautiful.

I find it differcult to explain or even answer, but I don't see men crying as weakness, what I do see is men crying and projecting their emotions in the public space as a NO NO. As a male, I want to look up too and follow strong people be it male or female. Last thing I want too see is someone I look up too and respect break down emotional in front of me.

I appreciate your attempt, thank you.

Context probably matters. I think back to the strong men in my life and how I have rarely seen them cry; but they have shed tears around me before. Those were special moments, private ones. But they didn't happen often; would gather maybe two times or three at most in my entire life have I seen those tears. But that's important; to know that important men I have looked up to, men whose partial role in life was to guide and protect me, to be a source of strength for their own families, that they possess(ed) the ability to release emotions in a healthy way. To be human, as we all are.

I don't know what it's like to live as a man; I never will. I can only try to understand the impact societal pressures and conditioning have brought to the male experience and do whatever I can to nurture a more truthful way of living.

We males live and suffer in silence most of the time because we can't express our emotions like females do. Because most of the time, we need to look strong for our families and friends even though we are breaking inside. Some guys go gym, push weights, go running, do boxing and other sports to release their own frustrations and angry as a result of bottling up their emotions.

Men should be thankful crying is seen as something normal nowadays

Apparently in the ughh old days ,it was wrong for them to cry, it was just girl stuff :steambored:

Never understood why, oh well, old stuff 🤷

I even used to count how many times I cried v:

Crying is a bodily function. It's emotional puking, basically. If you've gotta do it, the best thing for your health is to do it. Though for a man, it's best you find a "safe space" to do it. Nobody is wanting to see a man crying. It's pathetic.

And for guys who think it's manly to not let it out, I got news for ya. If you feel the urge to cry, or things are getting to you, you're already a "wuss" (in that moment, at least). It's best you get some catharsis in the most effective way you can.

Like I said before, some men need it more than others, but if you're not honest with your own personal needs in this way, it'll lead to negative effects down the road, because stuff like that comes out one way or the other.
