Even late game it's pretty good, if you throw in explosive ammo and all the attachments.
You will do tremendous damage in the game with very low ammo usage if you use Christine's Silenced Sniper Rifle at long range and then switch to the Q-35 Matter Modulator in close combat.
hard pick tbh every weapon in NV is pretty badass even if just a meme
if i had to pick top 5 from either one of the following:
-rat slayer = broken stealth build from the start of a playthrough makes cheesing stealth super easy
-that gun = quality pistol and early on too!!!
-riot shotgun = doesn't matter which one or the unique version but a riot shotgun with the right build can just tear through anything. Don't get me started on all the ammo types you can use
-anti material rifle = flex on the BoS deathclaws and legionaries with man's greatest meat mist maker. Again ammo grades aside are entirely different but bonus plus.
-Archimedes gun = quite honestly the weirdest yet coolest "gun". More a radar and the actual gun is a space satellite turned lazer motar. Basically a mini death lazer from above. Takes 1 day to charge but well worth the wait to literally obliterate anything and everything short of armored enemies. With mods you can pretty much store up more uses making it a fun weapon to troll around with.
As weird as it may sounds I never had the same feeling as with the regular sniper rifle, I find it less satisfying, plus if iirc the viewmodel is way too big, or maybe I'm confusing with the Gauss Rifle? To be fair I would need to play it againt to tell exactly, I haven't played it for ages.
The enormous variability in shotgun ammunition in F:NV makes them exceptionally versatile and enjoyable to use.
The tight spread with the choke also made this a very viable weapon.
12 Gauge Coin Shot also was very amusing to use.
I liked to use the AER-14 Prototype, too.
Hmm. Never tried the Riot Shotgun. But it's nice to have you quote me and not shred me. Heh. Yes, I remember the Lonesome Road Deathclaws. They -almost- took me down. I can't remember exactly where but I remember them being everywhere.
My main issue with shotguns is range. Typically too close for me - on average. I don't want to be near enemies. But again, never used the Riot Shotgun. I bet it's fun.
does it have c96?
I love crit builds, I love stealth builds, this is incredible for both.
Normally I just use shotguns on everything and everyone because that's what I like in New Vegas, but I will admit there is something satisfying about using the anti-materiel rifle, chambered with explosive .50MG rounds, and yeeting everything in sight with long-range splash damage.
Either way I'm mixing it up.
