I think it has more to do with the individual being made into a diamond. Think about human history how many cultures have taken steps to preserve remains. Egyptians mummified people, so part of them would last forever. We embalm them to delay the process of decomposition, and many people keep cremated family members in urns. When you consider all of this, a diamond seems a lot more convenient to store, and lasts forever, in a rather indestructible manner. I can see the appeal.

If the day comes that I go- I could choose this as an option- or whatever is the most environmentally friendly at the time.
