The new method is terrible and extremely buggy.

Also they broke the mobile app, I can't even log into the mobile app. I tried to change my password and it wants to verify who I am first with the mobile app, but I can't log into it to even verify.

Yeah this is a terrible design choice. The Mail Icon with a number of your notifications next to it was perfect enough.
