Anyone else scared of the draft?
If WWIII starts within the next 30 years then that's it, that is the end of my life. I mean obviously it's not guaranteed that I will die but what are the chances you come back home from something like that? Cause lets be honest here, if WWIII starts and you live in America and are a guy who is able bodied you WILL be sent to fight, the chances of not being sent during a world war is so slim. Plus the fact that the draft was such a big part of both WWI and WWII there is just no way it wouldn't be used in WWIII.

So yeah, if WWIII ever starts I think I am going to have a panic attack, and then do every thing in my power to disable myself hopefully. It's the only way I see myself surviving.

That or hopefully I am considered a friendly fire risk because I totally would be out in the battle field. I would be so deathly terrified I would shoot everything that moves towards me no if ands or buts, if bullets are flying I am shooting anything that comes towards me.

I can't see how people would willingly sign themselves up for the military, do people not have self preservation instincts? Like everything in my brain tells me to stay the ♥♥♥♥ away from anything military. You are signing yourself up to be shot at when you sign your life to the military. Same with police officers I don't get how anyone does it.

Honestly op you should relax it's not good to be anxious like this and projecting so far in the future. IF ♥♥♥♥ happens ♥♥♥♥ happens you don't really have control on it but you should try to enjoy life, is all i mean to say.

Everyone dies one day. If the military doesn't ruin your life, it pays for your college and gets you a shot at a good life.

It’s not like I am constantly thinking about this but whenever it does come up in my mind it does end up freaking me out a little bit, it’s just I have a life that I’m content with and I’m scared to lose it is all, and the fact that something that is completely out of my control could send me to my death is scary, but then again there are a lot of things that are like that I guess

I'm not scared because I'm the last person anyone would draft; being I'm unmotivated, rebellious, have no combat skills, and the most I'd be able to achieve would be marching 20 miles under full load to assassinate my commanding officer

I'm living in Iran which I think has about 70!? countries blacklist and threaten and sanction it, without those shiny equipment US has, and then you worry while living in the big Island of America lol.

You'll be fine, ww3 isn't that likely. People are just paranoid and think a country blinking to fast means ww3.

As long as you’re able bodied and have a semi regular psyche then they’ll send you

Just cause I have it semi good doesn’t mean I can’t worry

And I'll remind them why western militaries switched to using well trained motivated volunteers as I drive off with my haul of stolen toilets

Well in my case I would go to do my part in defending the country, let it be officially or not (even if they don't allow it due to criminal history and such, gotta sneak into the lines.)

The strongest motive for me is not being able to live with myself in peace if I don't go, since after the war ends and I stay alive, I'll keep seeing myself as a coward, or think I could save at-least one person but didn't; That kind of life is maddening and unworthy for some.
Chesmu Jun 20, 2023 @ 6:13pm
And that motive most likely is there when defending ofc. When they send you miles away into a different side of Earth, one has all the rights to think by themselves "Who and why the ♥♥♥♥ for am I risking my life?"

Haha, so you'd choose to be their pawn getting disabled, killed or permanently severely injured for a temporary war that'll end just like any other.

When enemies are invading country soil, that's not really them tricking me into going into front. It's just common sense to defend, like defending your home from armed thieves and such.

No it's not common sense, that would be you either escaping the country before the war goes down, or you sitting at home, doing nothing. That's much smarter, and has 10000% more of a likelyhood of you surviving.

lmao I could never understand that. But if my country is invading another and they try to grab me for it, then that's the logic I'll definitely use.
Rio Jun 20, 2023 @ 6:20pm
If you try to draft dodge or only sign up when it forces you too. You may go straight to the front line. They know you don't have any loyalty, or interest in the military, you were forced in. And why should they extend anything to you?
