Why did everyone suddenly start saying "onus" instead of responsibility?
This is just another one of those irritating things that makes me feel like I Mandella effected my way into another universe exactly like my old one in every way except for one annoying little difference that only I seem to notice. It's like people here forgotten the word responsibility exists! "The onus is on you to make sure your sources are credible" says the teacher in this universe VS. "it's your responsibility to make sure your sources are credible" says the teacher in my original universe. Thoughts? Thoughts from the native inhabitants of the onus universe?

Never heard of this word. There goes another Universe.

We need to declare war on this universe, I woke up in a bad mood this morning because I'm still here :lunar2019madpig:

I never heard that "thing" until now. So i googled it, just to know if it's even real.

Anglais Français
onusˈōnəs fardeau

Traductions de "onus"
nom
- le fardeau
burden, onus, load, charge, encumbrance, millstone
- la charge
load, charge, burden, loading, office, onus
- la responsabilité
responsibility, liability, charge, duty, blame, onus

Nom commun Modifier · Charge, fardeau, poids. Oneri esse alicui. Être à la charge de quelqu'un. · Cargaison (pour un bateau). Naves ♥♥♥ suis oneribus — (Live).

Ok, so it's an old latin word that means "burden", in here as "burden of proof".

Case closed.
How comes that except the dude in post 54 NO ONE did his search before writing ? =D We are not on a tchat were everything is quick-quick.

Onus means you have a legal requirement to be responsible in a certain way.

A responsibility just means you ought to do it.

Someone one has to be responsible to finding the onus on something, like the OP.
Yet it's not my responsibility to prove the onus of your lack of responsibility.

Two different words with their own meanings.

Don't look up how "Fruit Of the Loom" never had a Horn Of Plenty (Cornucopia) here

Don't look up how there are churches with stained glass windows and people with tattoos, both of a lion with a lamb, when it has always been "wolf shall lay with the lamb" here and NEVER has been lion in the bible

Don't look up how Air Jordans never had Micheal Jordan with basketball shorts on in the side logo on the shoe here, it was NEVER that way here and Jordans always have had him in long pants with his legs spread jumping in the air

man you'll go crazy

People say that? I have never seen someone use the word "Onus"
What does it stand for?

Iunno

I think there's a bit of difference in connotation. A responsibility is a noble thing where an onus is an ominous thing.

I don't bear witness to it all that much. Not hardly at all in fact. You can try beating them at their own game by using it so much yourself that it drives them crazy. If you live long enough to become a robot rainbow then it will probably become a nonissue. You'll probably be able to have your own robot elephants by then too.
