It's expensive, requires a lot of setup (provided you even have the room space for it), and it doesn't have many heavy hitters that aren't just the equivalent of mods for old fps games. Doom VR sounds cool for 5 minutes before you realize just how much the game wasn't built around giving you that kind of freedom with camera control.
It's neat, sure, but it'll never be super popular or replace anything unless it suddenly becomes much cheaper and easier to set up.
You can buy a standalone vr headset for 299 dollars.... the same price as an xbox. You only need an 6x6 square to play in that you won't wack anything.
My nephew loves his VR more than any other game system he has. It doesn't need heavy hitters as long as it pulls in young gamers and builds a base with them much like nintendo did for a lot of kids in the 80-90s.
Times they are a changing bros.
It is a cool technology, I hope it becomes popular
:O
I would like to try some games out in VR, specifically Beat Saber, but I still feel like I'd rather play games normally on an average day.
At least that's how it is in our household.
Problem is, I wouldn't know what else I'd try. Space Channel is like the original but.... kinda worse? Miku game is also barely a game from what I've heard, nothing like Project Diva which I adore? The library for this genre doesn't look too promising. I'd probably try out the likes of Astrobot or RE7 or even Doom 3 which I've heard wasn't too bad, but yeah nothing other than these managed to get me.
I don't like the motion sickness I get from VR. My brain knows its fake, and it struggles to know where I actually am.
I could envision a VR game where I just lay down in a field. Although, I could just lay down in a field.
Only purpose I see VR gaming is for education. Like finding the edible plants amongst poisonous ones in UE5, and identifying the species
