Do you think humans will keep evolving?
Or do you think we’ve reached our full potential as a species?

Evolution of humans has slowed down but we are still evolving.

The reason is that humans are not facing as much pressure from nature. In a modern and safe society natural selection also known as survival of the fittest is no longer an obstacle like it used to be in the past.

We now possess knowledge about genetics and "tools" that could speed up evolution but it wont be natural selection.

I suspect that humans might soon see evolution "on steroids" ......

Eugenics is a very controversial topic and so is genetic modification but I suspect some will still attempt this.

In 1935 there was a German "breeding" or eugenics program called Lebensborn. After WW2 it was "officially" discontinued but some conspiracy theorists claim that Lebensborn went underground and secretly moved to Argentina and continued until the late 1970s. Then the Lebensborn program was secretly moved to South Africa and continued until the early 2000s. Those conspiracy theorists claim that the Lebensborn program became decentralised and is now secretly being continued by several nations.

It would not surprise me if this is true and Lebensborn have been using artificial genetic manipulation from the moment this first became possible.

Several years ago the first officially known genetically modified children were born in China. The doctor whom did this claims to have modified the genes so the children were born with increased resistances to several deadly diseases, increased physical strength, and increased intelligence. This doctor also claimed that these children will most likely pass on their enhanced genetics if they someday procreate.

Same, in fact I find the whole trans-humanism / bio-mechanics idea even more creepy than eugenics or genetic enhancement.

But I had to ask since you brought up the topic about humans merging with machine.
Good point, its just speculation beyond more bio-focused options

Depends on whether you would call it evolving or devolving.

People can quickly evolve as a person if given a traumatic experience.

We will continue to evolve, but evolution is slow and we are growing too many, plus there are too many stupid people often in charge of politic and military. This means we are doomed even before some serious change will ever happen.

However, technology does help us, and with genetic engineering we can speed the evolution. This is our last hope, because chances that we can live another 100.000 of years without killing ourselves are almost none.

Evolution is not slow, feminist frequency recently closed shop, done as her eggs, its over in a blink of an eye.

Humanity will be fine without genetic engineering, the instincts of those predisposed to such cope technologies are bad, and they will make those technologies bad.

I thought you said you were Christian..?
Christianity and evolution can coexist. The largest group, the Catholics believe this. Evolution is the way the "God" created mankind.
Humanity change but it is not Evolution.

For example, i am not a "better overall capable dude" than Jesus Christ just because i live 2000+ years later than him. Same goes with other people you know from History. The change we refer to isn't something current "Theory of Evolution" states.

It isn't simple as "we change, so Theory of Evolution is true". It doesn't work like that.

Not just you, other posters here, including OP, must know that.

I can elaborate even further in case some posters may not get what i am saying:

In ANY TIME FRAME of Humanity, we were not a DIFFERENT species, like pigs or monkeys. However, as stated in Qur'an, some of the Humans were relegated to apes and pigs during prehistoric times as a punishment from God. Most of them have Lilith as their ancestor. The question is, what happened to those who were relegated to Apes and Pigs later on through time and their descendants??? That is THE answer on Theory of Evolution.

I know you are shocked, but it is what it is.

You are one of the few spiritualists that have actually mentioned Lilith, good work pointing that out!

And I have thoughts to share on this too.

If I lost an arm and a good artificial replacement could be put in its place I'd take that option if it was available. Isn't that also part of trans humanism with artificial limbs and organs?

Same for things like eyes and other parts if there is a valid option to replace that could work as well as the real thing why not?

A time to be alive indeed
What about the 1920s and 30s outside of Germany?

Eugenics isn't just genetic stuff look up "healthy baby competitions" or such where they had lots of contests to find the healthiest babies and promote that over babies born with some kind of disability. Mothers were "encouraged" to abort or abandon babies that might have a chance of not coming out healthy.

If i had the choice to choose which Century i will live beforehand, it certainly wouldn't be the first half of 21st Century. In my opinion, current timeframe is one of the worst eras of Humanity if not THE worst.

And there won't be any improvement as long as current World Population doesn't start to decrease.

Yeah, sure... things were much better centuries ago: no games, Internet or hot showers.
