Razer, I think it was, did a waterproof mouse mat. It was very expensive and I am not sure they make it any more.

For bare plastic, pretty much any cleaner will do. Plain dish soap would be safest, if you're worried about solvents degrading it.

That's "washing up liquid" for Brits.

I use a drop of vinegar on a microfibre cloth to clean my screen. It not bad for any coating your screen have like alcoholic or soap products. and if your screen have these stripes from being a heavy smoker it get clean as new. Just use a drop or 2 and not a lot and don't scrub, just rinse softly. This also works wonderful on filthy mouse bottoms.

I just use a warm, damp facecloth to wipe it down :p
Maybe use a mouseball? But that needs regular cleaning, too.

Clean up your room, bucko!
Now that all this mouse pad talk is over with, can we move on to more important topics, such as those types of people that place their PC towers on carpets or inside of cabinets without any heat ventilation.
The switch with so much usage barely gets dirty but laptop and mouse ,veeery dirty after 1 game session 😭😭

They need a product called "Gamer Grease", or GG. It can be extra slippery or extra tacky depending on your gaming needs.  :p

Carpets are fine, though a cradle or caddy to hold it is wise.

Being a smoker is far worse.

You do know that PSU fans are pointed towards the ground right? Therefore, not wise to put on a carpet. There also tends to be more of a dead skin cell and dust build up at the bottom vent(s).

Smoking hurts your lungs more than a PC...

Depends on the case, I suppose. But yeah, a caddy is wise. Even if the case has riser feet

Do away with the mousepad and get a desk that is optical sensor friendly.

Mouse directly on the desk or tray is fine, but you should still have a wrist cushion.

Just wear boxing hand wraps around your wrist.

EZ:

first of all use a plastic mousepad and not one covered in textile material.
that makes cleaning much easier when the time comes for it.

but just wash your hands before sitting down, and then dont touch anything that would dirty your hands whlie sitting there.
if you do touch anything like with your hands - foodstuffs for instance - then wash your hands again.
just use some sort of utensils instead of your fingers., and dont drop stuff or leave those utensils on the mousepad/desk/keyboard.

and by "wash your hands" i mean exactly that. do it properly and not just pass your hands once under running water hoping the though itself will count.

Wash yourself and stop eating at your PC.

It actually drives me bananas when my co-workers use their keyboard and mouse after eating greasy food. Just why????
