if kart racers are countable here though, Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed outbeats any mario kart no buts. Maybe tied with Crash Team Racing if you want a VERY skill-based kart racer.

Somebody has good taste in Kart Racers. These are definitely my top 2 as well.

Let's see, there was also the genre of the pseudo 3d raster racer, which I more or less grew up with. So many great among them. Outrun. Rad Racer 1 and 2. Top Gear 1 and 2. I even loved the GameGear game Formula 1. Shame that style has all but disappeared. Horizon Chase Turbo was a cool throwback, but it just wasn't the same with 3D graphics (especially weird glitchy 3D graphics that have perspective issues).

Yes. The spiritual predecessor of Midnight Club.

Never really got into the first two, but I really like the third one. Shame it's an Xbox exclusive, and one of the few that hasn't gotten any support on newer XBoxes.

I guess Mario Kart. Double Dash was my favorite so far, though I no longer have a GameCube. Gran Turismo was awesome as well.

I play Super Mario Kart(most versions) for the cheese.
I play F-Zero(I like the SNES and the GC versions) for the speed.
I play Halo:Combat Evolved(The Firste) for the skill challenge (yes, it has a racing mode)

Outrun..... Can't beat the original

I had Outrun 2020 on the Sega Genesis, and one of my favorite card games as a child was Milles Bourne. Which, the Apple II that was in the special ed class I attended between 7th and 11th grade had that on there.

It also caught fire in the middle of class one day because no one in all these years thought to dust the Dinosaur. Which is what they called it, since it was older than any of the students.

Was actually the computer of the son of one of the three hippie ladies who ran that class. Wonder what she's up to. Was a nice lady, and even came to my senior year graduation and gave me a Japanese-English dictionary.

Much like how the Longshoreman who looked like Gandalf gave me my copy of Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and let me read his copy of Go Rin No Sho: A Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi. And before you ask, no there were no hobbits in the class.

Except that Wiccan who entered the Air Force and that cute goth girl I had a crush on, but they were more dwarves than hobbits.
