Too bad they stopped making games now.
In all seriousness a tie between Crew Franchise ( SUPER EXCITED ) about motor-fest and classic Ridge Racer
I feel like there are no fun and believable arcade racers anymore. It's either full-cartoon, simcade or hardcore simulation these days. This even affects franchises that used to be like that.
So, racing franchises that haven't turned sour for me?
Race Driver, Crash Time, Driver, World Racing, Test Drive and Burnout.
But I suppose that's because there haven't been any new entries for more than a decade now.
If we were to include single-title franchises, then also Fuel, Blur and Nitronic Rush.
But same deal there: Not a single entry for more than a decade.
Need for Speed would probably be on the list if they would've just let the franchise rest in pieces instead of rebooting it.
Games in general suffer from them feeling more like work than actual games. Just let me play and have fun and not do chores.
Yes. the Burnout games are a lot of fun! They simply don't make games like these anymore.
Trying to find a copy of Burnout 3: Takedown for original Xbox ATM..
The Xbox version only has marginally better visuals due to slightly better reflections and lighting, but that's about it. The PS2 version is much easier to backup and I find it to be more available. But if you are playing on original hardware, that doesn't matter as much anyway.
It's a great game either way, though I prefer Revenge and Paradise. Burnout: Fairhaven finally had licenced cars and PvE police chases, but wasn't as good of a Burnout game.
Not as good, but fun.
I hate Mario Kart.
The freaking powerups piss me off so much. There was a track in Double Dash where I could call it to the second when the damn CPUs were going to throw a blue shell at me on the last lap when I had no chance to catch up, ruining my entire 150CC cup attempt because they did it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Then the time I tried to be sneaky and hang out in second place at that part on purpose... THEY DIDN'T THROW THE BLUE SHELL. But at least then, I only came in second, so it didn't ruin the whole cup. Literally intentionally not being the best racer was the only way to win that cup, and it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
