Most people seem to think the Soul Series (not that one) started on the Dreamcast with the original SoulCalibur.

I hear the Blaster Master games got a PS1 game, but I don't know how good it is since I have yet to play it.

Listen man I just think the levels rely too much on specific gimmicks for my liking. Even &Bass is just megaman 8 but good since it's levels are consistent platforming.

Fair. Jump jump slide slide haunts my nightmares just like everyone else's. But I do like the other gimmicks, like the Astro Man maze and the Rush parts.

I actually think the X4 and X5 Ride Chasers were more annoying than jump jump slide slide, personally, but at least that was as gimmicky as those got.

Since you mention &Bass, the SFC version is waaaaaay better than the GBA version.

Ride Chasers were annoying, but at least they only got 1 stage dedicated to them. The astro maze is fine, but the shmup section of tengu was weird. I like me a good shmup, but not in the middle of a platformer.

Absolutely. SNES &bass is genuinely one of the best classic games. Such a shame it has a bad reputation because most only played the gba port and never gave it a second chance.

It will cost you a kidney, an arm and a leg if you seek to buy a copy in reasonable nick.

If it's platformers you want you're better off looking at Saturn for 32-Bit era 2D games, it was superior to PS1 in this regard.

Also, for PS1 and Saturn Japanese exclusives are worth exploring, I'm sure you'll make some of your own discoveries to tell us about.

Gray one.

I think it was a later revision that had extra output options or something. We were definitely late adopters, so it wouldn't have been the first model.

While we're on this subject, here's some trivia that has been lost to time:

When it was current, everyone abbreviated the Playstation PSX. I'm not sure where the X came from, but since there wasn't a 2, there was no reason to call it 1. Then Sony developed and marketed a product they actually called PSX. Though I don't think I ever saw one--it may have been Japanese only. It was some sort of utility machine for DVDs, as I understand it. The PS1 acronym only came around after the PS2 released and the smaller revision of the original system named PSOne hit shelves.

Yep, I own it although its worth closer to $30 complete, so $40 is a little high.
