Nostalgia is NOT reality... This is rly important to remember!!

Nostalgia just remembers the good experiences, not the bad ones ,giving the illusion that old times were just simply better...

The more you remember ,the more you fall for it... Excessive nostalgia is just never good...

Even ppl with terrible experiences in their past still have nostalgia, despite having no reason to be nostalgic for... 🤷

As for toxicity? No ,literaly impossible... Toxicity has always existed and it still does, that has not changed

ok i can get that, but besides the technicalities, something felt way different
it wasn't quite the same thing tbh. forums were forums, like this one.
social media on the other hand is something entirely different, different presentation, different engagement ways, i do see differences

I never mentioned toxicity... the discussions were different back then. People weren't obsessed with politics like they are on Reddit and Twitter.

Toxicity has existed since two different people were online. Was rampant as far back as USENET. We’ve just gotten better at monetizing it. Google is objectively worse. Search results are cluttered with content farms and moving so much interaction to a handful of sites (Twitter/Reddit/Etc) has made it difficult for Google to use linking as a measure of quality.

I think internet has changed since its inception, right now it's stable like the same as it was but I think you mean more about people and in that case yes: People change.

People change and society changes over time, the world changes as a consequence.

Pre 2007 it was a somewhat more polite place now anything goes.
