Incandescent bulbs illegal to sell in US after Tuesday
Get em before they're gone.

Seriously I'm all LED now except this one lamp with a small bulb. Gonna have to check on that.

Are you stocking or have you also moved on?

Here, you once again prove that you're brainwashed and very much manipulated by your own ideology that you follow, to the point where you're willing to throw away all the common sense. Because no one is saying that banning incandescent bulbs is going to "save the world". Literally no one. But it makes a positive contribution to the environment and has zero negative effects. Zero. I'm going to say that once again: zero. Because the alternatives function even better than the product that is banned. Where's the negative effect?

There are no credible counter-arguments as to why this should not be done.

If the stores sell incandescent bulbs, (some) people are going to buy incandescent bulbs. If the stores don't sell them, people will switch to the alternatives which are demonstrated to be 20x better to the environment.

ROFLMAO, and do you think this stops at light bulbs? Do you seriously think it's where such delusions end? Today, light bulbs. Tomorrow, CRT televisions? Tube guitar amps? Air conditoners? None of this will save the planet, there is no climate crisis. It's little more than a bunch of Don Quixote types attacking windmills to make themselves feel special.
Well - why should they stop at light bulbs?

As we create alternatives that function exactly as great as the product that is damaging our environment, this progress is extremely positive.

Harmful products have been banned throughout the history. There's a reason why you cannot use asbestos in new buildings.

I think those LED's have more harmful components than an incandescent
Of course they last a lot longer.

No point in it. Even if I were to stock up, they burn out quickly anyway so it would not buy much time, and while those old C.F.L. lightbulbs had a ghastly coolness to their color temperature, L.E.D. light bulbs provide good warm light. Also, candles still exist for traditionalists, and it would be rather hard to enforce a candle ban sincethey are so easy to make.

Also, speaking of easy to make, how difficult can it be to make a light bulb? We are talking about rather simple 19th century technology here. The hardest part of making a viable light bulb was figuring out which filament to use. You can kind of sort of jury rig your own with aligator clips attached to pieces of wire, a graphite pencil led, some batteries and a mason jar. It is probably not as good or convenient as a commercial bulb, but it is something if you are really desperate for some ol' fashioned incandescent lighting.

Maybe if I was more into photography then I would care more, but even then I think I would prefer to have VU1 brand E.S.L. lightbulbs[www.forbes.com]. Though then again, those do not seem to be made anymore for some reason.

They are only that unreliable because of the Phoebus cartel.

Light is overrated.

It wouldn't surprise me that the components are nastier and not renewable. They are electronics, and insise those plastic housings besides several diodes are often resistors, transformers, electrolytic capacitors, and if you have the "smart: bulbs than also micro controllers and wifi rados. All of which end up in the landfill. And even though they advertise longer life, in actual practice those numbers are never reached because the cheap components inside them burn out before the LEDs do, and you can't repair them so they go into the trash so you can replace it with a new one.

There are still niche applications where they are allowed (for example, appliance bulbs still have to be incandescent because LEDs can't withstand the heat inside an oven). LEDs are virtually indistinguishable nowadays anyway so long as they aren't the cheap ones that have that annoying high-frequency flicker. You also have to make sure to get the soft white ones and not those hospital lighting cool white ones that reveal every speck of dust on the walls and every wrinkle on your face.

Cellphones use LEDs.

Can not read either or know what is a Incandescent bulb

one good thing about old lightbulbs is for hatching and keeping chikens warm

they are good little heaters

I would ask you for a source on your claims, but we all know, you never give any, you only have the stuff you make up in your head.:tgrin:

Seems nobody put any consideration into the electronics that go into making LED bulbs, what goes into producing those parts, or how they are disposed of. And if we're being intellectually honest, how many LED bulbs do y'all have that have lasted anywhere near the advertised lifespan?

A source on the claim?.. Simple. Take one apart. I'm sure you have a few burned out ones if you haven't straight up trashed them already. If so, crack one open, see for yourself what's inside. You'll find a circuit board with circuit board components.

They don't have sources, they just want to hate everything that has the label "green" on it.
It's ideological opposition.

Check out their previous comments, there's evidence.
