Ask an autistic person anything
I'm kinda bored and down, so I wanted to do an AMA. Interested? Then ask me anything.

FYI: I avoid questions and comments that are made as bait just to incite arguments. Other than that, feel free to ask anything as long as it's not breaking any rules or trying to start some sort of drama. Thanks.

I have aspergers

this is my question for you.... why?
I don't know; I wish I knew why I had it, to be honest. I have wanted to fit in and just be normal for so long, but I have learned to try and embrace my quirks. I suggest that you could consider doing the same. :)

How many bags of Haribo Goldbears can you fit in your mouth at one time?
I have never tried. I have an odd fear of choking on something and dying.

I have no clue what you're talking about.. But if you're on the spectrum, then you must be aware of how those two do differ from each other, and that's the reason why I'm asking.

From my understanding, Asperger's is simply part of the autism spectrum these days. They don't diagnose it as Asperger anymore. My friends have a child who's on the spectrum and they've been to many doctors and what not. Obviously we chat about it, they were explaining to me that the doctors told them Asperger is just another form of autism so it's "considered on the spectrum".

I am, however, not an expert and speaking third hand so I could be full of ♥♥♥♥.

My immediate relative has Asperger though (when they would call it that, he was diagnosed decades ago). From what I know of autism though, they seem to fit the mold of "part of the spectrum."

My two cents, adjust for inflation accordingly.
That's well said, and I do agree with everything you've mentioned here, but I do doubt they've dropped the term for such as.. To my eyes, silly reason as being politically correct.

His name was Hans Asperger.
He is controversial in the community; that's why people have dropped the term. In fact, the term is no longer in use. It's all under one umbrella term. It used to be autism or aspergers; now it's autism spectrum. Does that make sense?
That does ring a bell, but I don't believe they've dropped the term just because of one person.
That'd be very unreasonable, no?
And, yes.. Of course, it does make sense. I have made my research and know the differences between those two terms.

Shall I await your answer to my question, or do you plan to tell me that you're not interested in providing me with the answer?
You've given me signs that you're not interested, but I'd still like to make sure as there are still very high odds of me assuming your decision and being wrong with that.

I did answer your question: I am on the autism spectrum. The term aspergers was seriously dropped. From what I gather, he didn't truly think highly of those he diagnosed as having Aspergers. At any rate, I just don't like using that term. So that's why I use the term being on the spectrum, because now it's a spectrum.

Lol, that's a part of being autistic... you don't get sarcasm too well.
For referrence "normal" peoples too have an hard time seeing sarcasm in written words.

.. Do you have Asperger's or do you have autism?
That is the question. I haven't asked anything about where you're on the spectrum. Think of it like the type of a question with only two answers, Yes or No.

I'll just drop it if you refuse to answer.. Because I don't care that much about how does that affect you, although the topic is very much a music to my ears.

Yes, I do. I actually spend a lot of my time researching conspiracy theories and information about health, illnesses, and the like. Also, when I am interested in a person or a game, I like to know a lot about it.
Favorite game?

So true. I can't count how many work arguments I've nearly triggered vs just picking up the phone the old fashioned way and avoiding misunderstandings.

The term Aspergers has not been used for at least a decade. I have autism. I am on the autism spectrum.

I have a few. There aren't many games that I can call favorites except for The Sims games, The Long Dark, The Last of Us, Skyrim, and Harvest Moon / Story of Season are ones that I like a lot.

See, because people are not getting what I mean via text, I prefer to talk through my voice, but these days many people don't wish to do that. Heck, even over the phone, getting people to give me a chance to explain isn't easy. I actually also have a stuttering issue, which makes it even harder to get my point across.
