That's not the original topic. My point is you have a lot of opinions on how other people should and can raise their kids.

Do you have kids? Are you a parent?
I have opinions on how they should raise their kids. But I don't think I have ever expressed a view where I explicitly demand any specific way for raising kids. Sounds unfamiliar.

I don't believe that parental authority is infinite, and applies to every part/sector of the kid's life. Because, kids will learn a lot of things about the world that don't come from their parents. This includes through their own actions as well as the school. And that's an equally valuable part of growing up, combined with parenting.

As for schools, and what the original topic implies.. schools have a specific task of introducing and integrating the kid into the society. Part of that task includes making them aware of the different groups of people which exist in that society. This is very obvious. Putting sex education aside which should be age-limited; if we are systematically silencing this type of information, then we are actually doing a lot of harm for children all around the country and the world.

Yea no, none of that is in good faith as the people saying want "integration" into their personal form of indoctrination.

You aren't going to have teachers explain this https://twitter.com/EdgarOve/status/1679691767258513409 as inorganic. The ideas introduced are very selective, just as they complain about others being selective, special pleading as always.

Its very clear certain agendas are putting children at harm, you won't let them hear that argument though.
I can hear the word 'bigot' being echoed in the distance.
States are so vastly different in culture. People from California hate the Florida culture. People in TN hate NY culture. By culture I mean the politics as well. They're intertwined.

This argument in regards to "children's safety" would've held maybe 30 years ago when kids didn't have access to mobile devices and the internet. The world in which we live in nowadays is very different, and nothing that exists out there in the world the children cannot find out.

Because of the assaults & attacks on education by the radical swing of one side, kids have started to google things to become more aware of the topics, since it's now illegal for schools to do to their jobs. This poses serious dangers because there is a lot of misinformation on the internet which the sites refuse to remove, endangering/harming kids more.

If kids do not have access to trustworthy and legitimate information, that is going to harm them way more than this trustworthy and legitimate information itself ever would.

Everybody knows it's just a lame-ass attempt by activists of a failed ideology to push their ideology onto the one age group still naive enough to believe their nonsense. Parents know this, and demanded action be taken, and it has been. This is why parents overwhelmingly support the legislation, and the number of people who oppose it are overwhelmingly without kids of their own.

Just leave kids alone.

We're talking about LGBT, orientation, which is a feature of a person that is protected under the anti-discrimination laws. It is part of the fundamental human rights. You understand that, right? By saying that a teacher mentioning this group is "a failed ideology", you're *directly* saying that you think human rights are a failed ideology. It is good to know where you stand here.

As for the legislation, it is not true that parents overwhelmingly support this. If that were the case, this would be applied throughout the country. This is tiny meaningless minority in comparison to the larger scale, Florida represents 6% of the country of which not nearly everyone supports DeSantis.

The irony at saying "just leave kids alone" when you are supporting legislation which directly dictates how children are raised and what they can learn.

No, we're not, The law has nothing to do with gays, you know that because we've already pointed it out, several times. You're simply pushing a bad-faith argument to troll for your own entertainment.

Also, You don't live in the US, you don't know those parents, you don't speak to them, you don't have the slightest clue what they think or believe. It's just another bad faith argument. And I'm not even the first or only person to point out and call you out for your obvious trolling behavior.

No one has interfered with kids and their lives as much as the people who say that "kids should be let alone", and I do think that is very much ironic. Aside from the obvious such as sex ed age limit, Liberals/Democrats don't impose restrictions because they trust the teachers who have put their hearts and dedication into making sure that kids will receive trustworthy and safe information in order to grow to become productive, civilized hard-working members of the society.

That is the starting point.

I've seen the legislation and what is explicitly states. It prohibits "instruction to sexual orientation & gender minority in classrooms". That is, how it is written there. Mentioning of these groups will easily, and very quickly, be interpreted as "instruction to".

So yes, it is quite literally "don't say X" law.

the evil leftist agenda of... kids wearing clothes they want to wear
I don't know much about this, but few decades ago the world "gay" was an insult. The word gay has not been an insult anymore for the past years, I don't see what is the problem if I say, "hey guys and girls, this is my gay friend, welcome him".

"don't say gay" refers to a bill that bars "discussions about gender or sexuality" in schools

which at first glance sounds fine
but then you remember that, people are constantly being gender in a multitude of scenarios, including kids, and that kids see straight couples all the time, all over the place
that kids are shown this as the norm
and that causes issues when any kind of exception comes

a girl who likes girls, a boy who would like to wear dresses, a kid with two fathers, those things happen more often than the word "exception" would have you believe, and with this law in effect these things can't be talked about
of course, none of this would cause any confusion if this wasn't a strictly cisheteronormative society, if this wasn't a society that simply assumed everyone is cis and straight and that there's no need to consider any other scenario
but alas, this is where we are, these things end up needing to be explained sooner or later, and this law makes it so it can only be talked about later, leaving queer kids to figure themselves out through other means, assuming they realize they are queer and don't end up repressing any idea of it to be "healthy" or "normal"
