ok no in general florida is a horrible state if you're queer, and it's genuinely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up that for so many people it's near impossible to leave

Where do people hear this kind of stuff? You are speaking nothing but propaganda, what facts do you have to back it up?

No, none of the people here that think school teachers should influence small children have kids. Laws for thee, not for me.

That's irrelevant to literally anything I said.

Domestic violence exists, whether I have children or not.

That's not the original topic. My point is you have a lot of opinions on how other people should and can raise their kids.

Do you have kids? Are you a parent?
I have opinions on how they should raise their kids. But I don't think I have ever expressed a view where I explicitly demand any specific way for raising kids. Sounds unfamiliar.

I don't believe that parental authority is infinite, and applies to every part/sector of the kid's life. Because, kids will learn a lot of things about the world that don't come from their parents. This includes through their own actions as well as the school. And that's an equally valuable part of growing up, combined with parenting.

As for schools, and what the original topic implies.. schools have a specific task of introducing and integrating the kid into the society. Part of that task includes making them aware of the different groups of people which exist in that society. This is very obvious. Putting sex education aside which should be age-limited; if we are systematically silencing this type of information, then we are actually doing a lot of harm for children all around the country and the world.

Then to be honest, your opinion is worthless.

If you don't have kids, or are a parent, you have no idea what you are talking about.

" schools have a specific task of introducing and integrating the kid into the society"

Absolutely not. As a parent, no one else has the right to tell my child what to believe and value, that is my exclusive right.

Again, you don't have kids, you have no idea what you are talking about. Until you are a parent, you will never know.

nah, as someone who was a kid once, treating or wanting to treat your kids like you're their sole source of any kind of information or ideals is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up

how old are you? 30, 50? how many kids do you have?
either way it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad that you don't know basic things to avoid in parenting that a 21 year old with zero interest in having kids knows

Say whatever you want, until you have kids, you will never know what it means. Ask any parent, they will tell you the same thing.

I'm in my 40's by the way.

damn, in your 40s and you still have less of a clue about basic parenting than a 21 year old

Actually, your child will discover what he believes and value himself. You can guide as much as you want, reality is that everyone of us learn our own way.

Do they call "gay" the G-word in Florida now?

I'm gonna say the G-word.

Well, no, because the bill has nothing to do with that at all. It's just political activists have attempted to reframe it as being anti-gay in order to generate outrage against something most the people complaining might actually agree with. People who read it, agree with it. People who read media headlines are the ones that think it's something other than it actually is.
I know it's not literal, I was just poking fun at people that want to take away other people's freedom.
I want to move to Florida.

Exactly this. Thinking that you can "protect" your children from exploring the world around them is not going to work. It can seemingly work for a while - but it is temporary, and it is only going to create more problems than address.

Ironically people who say "let children be children" and "give them peace to grow up" and "leave kids alone" are some of the biggest advocates for dictating that process of growing up. To a much higher extent than what the school supposedly does.

It's still the parents' kid. Not the state's kid.

Parents don't "own" the kid though. Kid is an individual and explores the world just like any other human being. If a parent distances their kid from the society or even tries to do that, that parent isn't doing their kid any favor.
