Japan lost more people to poor culture and law than Ukraine did because of war last year
I found this to be an interesting topic, so let's remain civil, and let's also try to keep to discussing Japan instead of the other country mentioned.

This data doesn't seem to account for immigrants leaving their country, so keep that in mind, it takes in how many people were born vs how many people died.

This puts into perspective just how self-destructive the effects of hyper-capitalism are when combined with Bushido and strict migration laws. While nobody has the right to demand Japan take in immigrants, it certainly might be advisable, however the root of the problem is the extremely long work hours in Japan. Things such as sleeping in the office are common place, and activities that would be voluntary, such as hanging out with your boss at a pub are instead mandatory in Japan. There is also the fact that having a career is worshipped in East Asian countries, starting at a young age where students have to go through some of the most extreme schooling systems in the world.

South Korea is everything I said about Japan but worse, if Prussia was a Military with a country, then Samsung is a corporation with a country, that being South Korea. Everyone talks about how bad North Korea is, however it's worth considering that at least North Koreans only wish to escape their country, while South Koreans wish to escape the world.

The "westerns" aren't patrons of most things on their won countries, and even own fate. Others lead them behind such policies, usually money and lobbylist. Japan followed the western model after post war 2, paid the price.

I also never claimed I believe Japan will become a mirror image of the west.

Well not untrue. Because most ppl want to play easy mode, and wreak some havoc along the way. I'm talking about the opinions of the YT vid.

Divide and Conquer, the oldest trick in the book

Migration has fully ruined everything Sweden once was, but still, it is a good country in some ways. Mostly nature and stuff like that.

The japanese are deeply racist... even towards white people and other asians.
I doubt they will accept immigration as a solution to their falling population during our lifetimes.

If they made life less hellish, they could totally recover without needing immigration.
People are more likely to want to have kids if having kids is affordable and you have the time to properly raise them.

Emphasis on MORE LIKELY. There is more nuance to it, ofc, but what said about it being more affordable both financially and time-wise would go a long way with speeding things up.

I actually can respect people that are this much devoted to work and being overall useful. Seems noble.

Japan and China have fallen in the industrial trap, just like the West. You have to work all the time to keep a standard of living, which causes you not to be able to see your family, and raising a kid or tow will ensure you will see even less of them.

It is a shame that the average worker has really only two choices, be poor and and assuming someone wants to marry a poor person to start a family, you get watch everyone around you have a better quality of life. The other option is to choose to have few to no kids and be able to afford the luxuries you want now, but at the cost of your families future and the population decline of the country.

Most european nations have birth rates below replacement level. So does the USA.

We have positive population growth thanks entirely to mass immigration.

I think we should seal our borders and deport the illegals. Instead of trying desperately to stave off population decline we should accept it and embrace it.

The Dark Ages came to an end because of the black death. When one third of Europe lay dead, the survivors had more farmland, houses, and resources available to them. Wages improved, education improved, and it led to the Renaissance.

We need to accept that there is a reason people aren't having kids, and it's because none of us want to bring a young innocent life into this miserable hell-hole where life is so hard to live.

Only then can we start making it better.

Putting our heads in the sand and expecting immigrants to buy us more time is the height of stupidity. It's a bloodless invasion and at the end the USA won't be the USA we grew up in, it will be a different country entirely and I expect it will be a much worse country to live in than it was before.

While I'm not super educated on Japanese culture, the little research I have done on Japanese social culture, including work, relationship with neighbors and community is very socialist in nature. socialist-capitalism hybrid culture structures don't mix very well.

I agree. We should embrace it. Deport people, though? I don't like that. Not if they already have citizenship... that would be a really nasty, horrid thing to do to people who have settled down.
Especially if their original homes are hellholes...

I think at some point birth rates will stabilize. We had a BOOM in population a century ago. It is ridiculous to think that it is permanent. Explosions of any kind are temporary. The energy has been expended and now things are returning to pre-boom state.

What we SHOULD do, is supplement the dwindling workforce with technology such as AI and robotics.

I find it interesting how it's gotten to the point in japan where everyone is a super workaholic and going to university to the point where there's no one left to do things like plant the rice of serve food... so they just built robots to do it for them. :lonestar:

Well Japan is among the few nations in the bleeding-edge tech when it comes to robotics. A few years ago they even made a fully automated hotel, no human intervention needed at all.

Sooner or later robotics and AI will completely replace the workforce, humans and animals (even insects, bacteria and virus) in general, specially in developed countries.

However idk if it will happen this century or in the 2100's.

Yes we do laugh now, and make memes about it. However human relantionships and how we interact with each other, will change a lot during this century and the following ones. For better or for worse, time will tell ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
