I Had A Dream That The USA Ended Up In A Civil War (There's a plot twist. This is NOT political)
My hometown reduced down to rubble. All I could see was grey concrete ripped up from the ground, and rubble everywhere.

People were fighting on what was once a rural street, but most of the ones I could see did not look like soldiers. They looked like volunteer militia of some kind.

Meanwhile, citizens were trying to avoid getting shot, and my vision followed one particular man, being escorted to safety by a few civilians.

It's a cloudy day, fitting for the grim events taking place as the man a guided underneath archways made of rubble, and crossing hastily built bridge leading from one ruined building to the next.

Finally the man reaches "safety" in some ruins are are opened to the cloudy sky above. He stands in the middle with other civilians peppered around the ruins, some standing at higher levels, but something isn't right...

They are all staring at him for a short silent moment before revealing their teeth, and start hissing at him.

These civilians that are guiding people to safety aren't doing that at all. They are vampires taking advantage of an actual battle happening, and luring victims to the ruins to eat them.

Upon this realization, my dream ended. No idea what became of the man.

history is actually extremely useful... how else might we avoid the mistakes of the past?

you know what actually separates humans from other forms of life on this planet?

it's our ability to pass down knowledge through generations, to not have to start from a blank slate and figure everything out all over again.

if you ignore the past, you ignore what makes you human.

You do not need a history book and a history teacher to determine what is wrong and what is good or to make good decisions for the country ,is all about using your brain (and morality and ethics), that is it... Is just as simple as that...

Also that mistakes will happen anyways regardless of history existing as a subject or not... Is inevitable

I like to pass down knowledge ,but something useful and important like science , not what some person did in 1492... Or what this other person did in 1991...

What happened in past is no longer relevant now... Different times, different story...

I ignore the past ,that does not make me less human than the rest, nobody actually REALLY cares about history... Some just see it as something curious after a YouTube recomendation and that is it... :steambored:

So totally useless subject :steambored:

you don't need a book or a teacher, but it sure helps... and it doesn't need to be the mans book or teacher lol.

Maybe you've been watching the news reports from France which has influenced you.

I've consulted with the prophets and they say WW3 is more likely.

That's assuming your history is true, not likely, just what the winners wrote.

Are you sure this wasn't in China?

A great deal of China's internal problems boil down to the disenfranchisement of vampire populations. The origins of the 19th century vampire-immortal war essentially started in HK with conflicts between the uk, uk vampires, the ailing Qing government and its puppeteers, and criminally-aligned vampires who had been thrown out and left to fend for themselves.

Those criminal elements actually engaged in mass turning and un-graved fledglings set loose on mass swathes of people while they were frenzying, often with the support of different governmental factions who weren't as dominant as they wanted.

I wouldn't really be surprised if much of 20th century politics were also dominated by them, and if the blood cults used the chaos as an excuse to indulge in predation. US-style clothing and equipment was popular in this period.

Though, what you're describing could've happened anywhere between 1800 and 1970.

No, it's an actual dream I had, but I almost feel like I should take that as a compliment. Easily one of my favorite dreams. Sounds like something out of a movie.

I like that short snippet you've presented.
You should absolutely make a more coherent short story out of this, obviously solely as your original creation and not based on someone else's.
Maybe something will come of it.
Ditto, @OP it was a nice story / dream you had. Perhaps you have a talent to write similar kind of short stories.

Thank you both! Seeing that makes me feel good, but I don't think so. If I did, it would be untapped potential because I tried creative writing class in high school, and I remember just blanking out when trying to come up with anything to write. I don't get too many dreams like this one.
