Save Scumming.
The act of saving right before making a decision/choice/attempt. Then reloading that save until ideal conditions are met to move forward.

What're your thoughts?
Have you/do you Save Scum?

To answer myself; I have when I'm playing long AF games and want to see multiple outcomes of one choice but don't want to replay the game four times. I've also done it on older games, when the software I'm playing on allows, as pre-2005 games can be extremely unforgiving sometimes.

I think it's fair. It's in the game, so it's allowed.
If the devs didn't want you to do that, then they wouldn't have made it an option.

Always.
Don't need to waste time for stupid pride in single player game.

Sometimes I even use god mode and various cheat in fallout just to build settlements without scrapping thousands of thing first.

Yeah but I never finished them since my thumb never left the first page.

I save often, but rarely reload, because i don´t want to play the same situation again. But if i would lose much progress, or would need to play longer than "necessary" for something i would do it. Some games rely on save-scumming, when they have poorly implemented mechanics. Or when it´s needed for some achievement, which is relatively easy to do, but some stupid mistake could ruin it - and if i played only to get that one, i will probably save scum a bit. And yes - also the multiple endings thing, or when there is an exclusive choice in a side-quest, but i don´t intend to play the game a second time.

i do it a lot more when learning a game the first time, or something like that. after i got the swing of things, and we're on even playing field, then i start to 'let the chips fall where they may' - knowing i've given it a good shot, and have enough knowledge that my screwups are warranted =p

I have. I read those choose your own adventure Goosebumps books; I would use bookmarks to keep my place in case I had to go back.

As for save scumming, yup, I save scum with no shame.

I never save-scum - unless I'm exploring possibilities or need to explore how to beat a boss. However, I almost exclusively play Ironman mode in games.

I do it way too much. The reason for saying "way too much" is because I feel it breaks the flow of the game, but its so tempting so I dont have to redo stuff. There is nothing wrong with it, though, its just my personal feelings about how I play.

some games have the black screen freeze up after a major quest or battle and a save before is essential in case you have to do the stupid quest/mission again, both rockstar and Bethesda games have bugged mission quests

I'm fine with it, if a game locks me out of a specific weapon or piece of armor unless I pass some speech check. I'm not going to be denied a critical piece of my build by a few numbers.

HAHA!

If I really like a game and respect the mechanics and think it's possible, I will try to beat the game in Ironman mode on the hardest difficulty. I'm actually quite proud of some of my accomplishments.

I finally wrote a guide for one of the games. Heh, and see it's currently the most popular out of 44 guides. That makes me feel good.

I did it with cyberpunk dialogue options

I recently did it in Killer Frequency, which isn't forgiving with its save system. The game wants you to just go with it, but if you want to save everyone, you gotta do many saves. I'm gonna play it again to get the achievement for getting everyone killed

But then I need to play through it a third time to save everyone (f'd up my first playthough), and to also get the speedrunning achievement that comes with saving everyone

I save scum mostly when I don't understand a game mecanics and I want to test it without having to repair everything if it goes wrong. Or in an rpg when I find a decision stupid enough to be fun to watch but don't want to actually do that. I do it one time, load my save and make my actual decision, just for entertainment purpose.
