Exactly. This is man against big beast. I've run across a big male moose on a trail and they - are - intimidating.
You better have a gun or have some serious wrangling Bruce Lee skills.
The only reason I'd be more scared of a bear is because they're predators that would enjoy eating me. Though I dunno how much worse that is than a moose trying to ♥♥♥♥ me up because I came within a mile of his territory.
I will say this: I know a bear can be taken down with a handgun. I do not know about moose or elk.
A mother and baby moose walked down the road right in front of me the other day. I've seen male moose as well. They are intimidating and you certainly take note of their presence, but ultimately they have no real use for you. Just let them pass, leave them to their space, don't gawk and hang around, whatever, and they'll most likely just ignore you.
If you had to fight a moose unarmed, I don't know. You'd think it would be best to get on its back and stab in the neck area a few times before it can drop or shake you off. I doubt it would work though. But even thinking this way, there's no real reason. They can detect your thoughts and will respond to them. So don't bother to be afraid or aggressive. Think I'm wrong, next time you see a flock of turkeys, ducks, heron, deer, whatever, take note of your thoughts. You'll find they don't do more than acknowledge you, right up until the thought that you have, can, or want to eat them. They respond instantly and run away. Moose and larger animals are able to fight however, and may take your energetic signature (whether fear or aggression) as a challenge to their territory. Seen it too many times in too many different species to think otherwise.
They're not very good at cornering.
