I don't doubt that at one time that this would be true but not by todays standards.
Like children we pretend to be anywhere but where we are forever dreaming of rainbows and unicorns made with our own hands.
How are they going to get money from selling videogames
The job could as well been a videogame paid by the state.
The state give money to the bank, the bank give money to the company, the company give the bank's money to the employee and the employee give money to the state.
...Because we are the ones that invented it, who did it first and are the ones that make you lose in most video games on a daily basis ?
Jokes aside (well not really, was kinda true), how is that surprising to you ? Video games are around since like the 80s. Why would people drop playing video games just because they turn a certain age ?
I am 30 years old, married have kids. I certainly don't play for such long hours anymore as when I was like 16 or 20, but I still have almost the same passion for it. Only thing I noticed is that I get bored of some type of video games quicker than back then and have troubles focusing sometimes due to so many other things floating around in my head.
Other than that, I am still playing and I am still kicking a... in most games, especially in shooters.
Its sad to hear that some youngsters assume you turn into a dead working zombie once you turn " adult " , You will be surprised how little you actually change when you grow older. In my head it feels like I was 16 or 17 yesterday, not 14 odd years ago.
You must differentiate between arcade consoles standing in a gaming hall and actual PCs you would have in your own home.
The first for home use PCs were only controllabe by console and required you to have quite some technical know how to make them do what you want them to do.
This wasn't something most " kids " would do. More likely teenagers and young adults.
And I bet even a lot of boomers are savvy enough to know better.
Your dad has a superiority problem. I've seen a lot of peoples like that, you give them a title and everyone else becomes useless slaves or rather they think they've been elevated to the status of god. I usually pity those peoples, THEY should've stayed "employees"
I as a " boomer " can confirm this. In fact, I am surprised from time to time that some people even at my age of 30, are NOT playing video games.
Its like any other hobbies, watching TV isn't any different than playing video games but keeping you active with your brain than mindlessly watching TV?
It's as if someone would come to the conclusion that more adults read books than children.
