Should Native Americans have their their ancestral tribal lands returned to them?

If so how do you propose this be done?



Not all land of America was occupied or in use by Native Americans when Europeans settled the "New World" and such areas would be kept by non Native Americans.

also without the resources europe did get from the america's.. you snowball a whole lot of other changes.. would industrialisation still happen? democracy? would we ever be able to stop the treat the ottomans and berbers formed??

would need to do a whole lot of finetuning.. to create an "native americans keep america" without messing up things you might not want to mess up;)

It's an experiment. If things go wrong I will just go back in time to convince myself not to change time. c:

We've got people that can't let things that supposedly happened 2,000 years ago go, but that's okay. Some natives come lamenting things that happened 200 years ago and that's not okay.

And yet in 1980 the U.S. supreme court ruled that 1876 seizure of the Black Hills violated treaties signed with the Sioux.
Of course the Black Hills were never returned to the Sioux anyway.

A full return is impossible for obvious political reasons. Some lands may be granted to specific communities on a case by case basis.

Most native communities did not have centralized forms of government before colonianism.

As someone pointed out, all countries nowadays rest in territories previously occupied by others at some point or another.

More important than just a mere return is providing incentives to keep native culture alive, and integrated with the country at large, because natives, territories/reserves or not, are heavily marginalized in the entire American continent.

Oh really?..... all we see on TV is peoples getting "revenge" on other peoples for something they didn't even participated in, and yet it seems we have to pay for it again and again being forced to "give" space and recognition to minorities who aren't even making 20% of the population but are seen (on TV) as if they were a majority.
