Burger King made the worst decision in its history.
Burger King made the worst decision in its history.

I don't know if they made this decision in the U.S as well, but here in my country they decided to permanently remove " King Wings " from their menue in order to expand their vegan products.

Nothing wrong with vegan products, I eat those as well sometimes... But how could you remove KING WINGS ?! Many people really like those and they are a unique product which is with BK since dawn of time. How do they dare ?

There must be more behind this weird decision, especially since many customers complain about it.

I am truly disappointed...now I am forced to go to KFC, which where I live, is usually not really good as you get more crust than chicken, its usually pretty dry.

Help me out here, I am about to have a mental break down.

KING WINGS are CHICKEN DRUMSTICKS alright !!

Never heard of kings wings.

How ?!

International fast food chains often have region specific menu items[www.insider.com], so it is probably that burger kings in other nations never served King Wings as you know them in the first place. The only reference I can find to King Wings is actual chicken wings in Switzerland[www.thestreet.com].

Most Americans would probably go to K.F.C. or Popeye's Chicken to get deep fried chicken drumsticks, or a Pizza joint for wings.

Also, something you need to keep in mind is that many of the popular fast food franchises aren't their own company, but rather owned by conglomerates, and when you look into who owns Burger King, the rationale becomes rather clear. Burger King is owned by Restaurant Brands International[www.businessinsider.com], which also owns, Tim Hortons and (drumroll please)…

…Popeye's Chicken. Basically, they probably want to keep their their restaurant lines differentiated and avoid competing with themselves.

It might also explain why they made this decision. Perhaps your region was not robust enough to support both Popeye's and Burger King, and R.B.I. decided to use spare operating capacity to sell some of their chicken products, but now that they need to acomodate more actual Burger King items in their B.K. locations, they had to remove one of the more off-brand menu items.

Maybe try keep an eye out for a Popeye's Chicken. People often prefer Popeye's to K.F.C. anyway.

Well, I don't know where you live, but if it's Australia, then the Burger Kings there operate under the name Hungry Jack's[www.mashed.com] instead, in part because the region's franchisee is named Jack Cowin.

Must be esg or something.

It doesn't make business sense, as noted during the lockdown, when people cleared out supermarkets, they ignored the vegan isle.

Last time I went to Burger King was ~8 years ago.

They burnt my bun, my burger and my drink.

Never went back.

Just because you personally, or even a lot of people like a product, doesn't mean it's the best business decision to keep delivering it. It's why you might have had several TV shows that you loved, that have been canceled. The popularity as a whole, compared to other products they could offer in it's place may not be that good. They're likely removing an item that doesn't sell all that well as a whole, and trying to replace it with something for more mass appeal.

Key word "TRYING." The decision could very well be made by someone out of touch, doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground, and have been lead by a very loud minority on social media to believe vegans are more common than they actually are... Vegans wouldn't be the first group out of touch businesses have made that mistake with.

The only real power a customer has is to remove their own custom from business if one isn't happy.

I don't tend to eat fast food myself and not been to a burger king for years but I guess it would be the same as mcdonalds removing the Big Mac from it's menu.

Not really. The menu item he's speaking of I've never even heard of. Removing the Big Mac would be like Burger King ending the Whopper, which is their flagship menu item. Not some random stuff most people have never even heard of.

How does this change the fact that they made a mistake by taking off a loved product that has been on the menue for like 20 years in order to replace it with some vegan options ?

They clearly made a political decision here.

You are hilarious. Just because I like BK, does not automatically mean I do not live healthy and don't make sport.

In fact, I eat meat only once a week, cook every single day myself and exercise twice a day. Is that healthy enough for you troll ?

Same reason why all these other companies are making financially destructive decisions. Funny they all are running themselves into the ground very deliberately right?

If it had anything to do with money they would have learned the first time like with everything else. Companies don't like losing money, this has nothing to do with business.
