Sure as hell beats Christmas.
Before Covid, we'd volunteer at the mosque to assist in the entire process (usually we'd be assigned to the skinning team), where the majority of the meat gets donated to the less fortunate. But the mosque will always some some meat for us, that would get cooked and served to us as a reward for our hard work (usually mutton briyani).
As a city boy, that was my only exposure to truly fresh, recently slaughtered meat, and I always found that special.
Sure we gotta eat to survive in nature's world, but do you really have to slit its throat and get pleasure from watching it bleed out like that?
