Which is worse, no water or no electricity?
No Electricity:

- No video games
-No Internet
- No TV
- No Microwave
-No Fridge
- No charging phones
- No lamps (yes light is important)

No Water:
- No toilet
-No shower
- No laundry (debatable if this counts because no laundry machine if no electricity either)
- No easy access to drinking water
- No lawn

It seems like you lose more from losing electricity but what you lose from no water is pretty critical. Hard to decide which would be worse. Thoughts?

No water. But you can boil water from a lake and use purification tablets to make safe drinking water.

Went trough both, that's equally awful.
Water. Humans didn't have electricity until relatively recently in history while some kind of water system (even just a catchment) has always been essential.
I forgot to add actual light to no electricity. You notice how quick it gets dark at night when the power is out.

Yea but they make candles and battery operated lanterns.
If power outage involves whole country then there will be no water either since purification plants and pumping stations wont work.

Always fill your bathtub(s) and sinks if you know impending doom is coming.

Never thought of this, great advice. Might as well start off at level 1 with some water to trade.

Them places usually have backup generators.
An earthquake could destroy water lines in which case backup generators would be useless.

Depends how long, if something like massive solar flare happens you could be without power for a decade until power grid gets rebuilt.

Also a generator wouldn't overcome an EMP which would also fry the generators circuits before it even turned on.
No water is worst. No electricty is awesome.

Yeah, you learn to do stuff (improvise) during power outages.

Turn off your water main for one day and test it
Turn off your breaker for one day and test it

Water is WAY worse

I can deal with no electricity.. It's quite obvious which is worse just based on the fact that water is necessary for survival alone, whereas electricity isn't.

I've survived without both but if I had to choose, I'd choose to keep water every time. No lights, computer, internet, or electronics? We call that camping.
