"Bruh gaming is so boring now, everything's the same, no innovation"
Tell me you only play AAA without telling me you only play AAA

I would agree but unfortunately that same thing applies to indie games as well.

If I see another indie roguelike story-driven game I'm going to lose it and revert to never playing a game released past like 2012.

What indies have you been playing? The hyped ones that follows the latest and greatest trends?

This line of argument to me seems like someone complaining that all books are the same with no original content just because the fiction aisle bore them

People would find a lot gems if they decided to look to any games outside of the mainstream, its not rare, with music it is the same thing, mfs crying that modern music is lame and that before was better, like bro, just look for any subgenre of music and you would find a lot of good ♥♥♥♥, people are lazy and want every "good game" to be popular, as if quality always meant popularity lmao

meanwhile the indie game is either pixel earthbound inspired depression game or a boomer shooter ps1 graphics. and both are hyped. yes there are indie game that are not like this but like AAA games with realistic graphics or dad driven game it's the same anyway

I have enough games I seriously want to play that if I never purchased another game, I could still not finish everything I intend to play.

Indie trash is trash for a reason. Most indie games are pretentious, low effort, low skill, 'art' pieces, made by smug; artschool grads. Who are $100,000 in student loan debt. These very same people spend the rest of lives working off that debt, at starbucks or some other coffee shop. Or if they're lucky, they have familial/nepotistic connections and are able leverage said connections to get a job at AAA studios, and then smugly and condescendingly lecture the public, about how wrong and evil we are for not liking their pseudo intellectual garbage.

While I do mostly agree, let's not pretend indie games aren't subject to trends, with rouge-likes/lites and metroidvanias being rather prominent. That said, one has a far larger pool to pull from with indie games than with AAA games, so one should be able to find more unique gaming experiences with indie as long as they're willing to go past the surface level popular games.

On the subject of "rouge-likes/lites and metroidvanias", I actually think it's rather neat that they're quite numerous in the indie scene. Both genres were practically dead before indies became more popular (you rarely saw AAA companies doing them) so the indie scene having a lot of them is like a backlash to AAA companies depriving people of them.
I just think that's kind of neat, for some reason :lunar2020sweatrat:.

play some funkin videogames and shut up

Indie games are pretty good at doing what AAA doesn't like to do, yeah.

...but that also comes at the obvious side effect of showing us why AAA doesn't do those kinds of games. They're fine for what they are, but after awhile it just gets kind of tiring to see ANOTHER roguelike or ANOTHER metroidvania. Indies fall into the same trend-following trap that AAA games do, the only difference is that indies just follow a different set of genres.

A lot of indies tend to fall into the FOTM trap as well. It releases, everyone absolutely adores it and praises it to no end for a month or so, then the next "big" indie releases and suddenly discussion on the previous FOTM game just ceases. Saw that happen with Ultrakill, saw it happen with Pizza Tower, and I already see discussion of Hi-Fi starting to slow down drastically.

Good games, sure. Long lasting games? Not really. There's a reason most indie games don't become franchises and are lucky to get sequels.

My friend just recently gifted me Hero's Hour and the DLC, the AI cheats like hell but I've sunk 12+ hours into it in 2 days basically.

There's some really fun indies out there. Even games that are considered "super popular now" despite bad launches. Like No Man's Sky. Devastating launch, but has more than made up for it.

Tons of free content, very fun community, several "events" a year.

Person you replied to is a troll, simply here to cause grief. Look at their name history, and the fact they're a lvl 0 steam account.
