For those who claim that the metric system is better than the imperial one
You say that metric units are easier to operate. However, aren't you bothered to remember how many seconds in one minute and how many days in one year? You say that is simple, but your favorite "metric" time isn't actually better than the units you hate. Can you recall how many weeks in one year? Or how many hours in January? Actually, months are a real pain since every month has its own length. Oh, and look at this dumb leap year. But no one complains. Why? The answer is simple, everyone got used to this mess. The same goes to imperial units. You would rather use "five tomatoes" for your needs than learn this metric Esperanto.
Still want the US to adopt the French invention? Ok, here we go. A kilofoot, a milligallon, a deciacre. Are you satisfied?

I saw a demonstration on youtube by an ultra master craftsman. He demonstrated very eloquently that it is far better to use the "american" system of measurement when constructing buildings etc, because to use the other system, there comes a point in the building process where things do not line up.

I don't hate the Imperial System

I am just used to metric, I was taught it, so it makes sense to me

My parents were taught Imperial system, so that made sense to them. My best friend was in school when the systems changed over - that generation had a lot to deal with...

For every day use one isn't really better than the other. It is only if you use measurements constantly for scientific or engineering purposes that metric is generally regarded as better because of the fact that it works on multiples of ten which makes it a little easier.

Most of the differences are just aesthetic like 0°C being the freezing point of water and stuff like that. It looks nice but that's about it.

I still prefer metric, but it really isn't that big a deal.

The moment you realise the metric system is used for distance and weight and not time. Troll thread.

Interesting logic.

But I hate to break it to you, but the world isn't united on time measurement, either.
Not all countries use the 1-hour time zones (some even use a 16-minute time zone. Ugh.), nor do they all agree to Daylight Savings Time (even in the USA, not all states use that).
-----

Side note: The months length being a pain... you can thank the Roman Empire for that. They wanted to create two summer months to glorify Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar.
So they pushed the months following ahead, and stole days from Feburary so that those months, (July and August) would be both equal and prominent.

Also messed up the months names. September was originally supposed to be the 7th months ("sept" = seven), October was to be the 8th ("octo" = eight), and so on.

Thank you for the info. Now I see that the things are worse than I can imagine.

Apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system, and public health ... what have the Romans ever done for us?
