Edit: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Dark_side_of_the_Force#Attachment
I'm by no means a lore expert on Star Wars, but there are lots of gross simplifications here and flat out inaccuracies. I will just say, it's impossible to be both Jedi and Sith (obviously) just as it's impossible to be both Christian and Pagan IRL. They are conflicting philosophies and following one restricts your use of the force to that specific mindset. You are also wrong about them having the same abilities. There is a reason why Jedi can (generally speaking) not produce force lightning, for instance. That would require a different way of using the force than a Jedi is capable of or trained to do. This is just one example of where powers differ drastically.
I would say there should be a middle of the road, simply in the context of those that are neither jedi nor sith, I know that may never happen but I can actually see just some people not wanting to be in either side or their war and wanting to stay neutral but I dont think that has any effect to start with and still comes down to emotions right?
As for the grey Jedi thing, I find it quite mundane. From what I can tell, they are essentially Jedi who distance themselves from the council and their teachings, but also somehow manage to resist becoming corrupted by the dark side. So, they're still light side followers but they reject the Jedi code and their teachings. Therefore, your argument that they're this "middle of the road" choice is inaccurate, they're still on the side of light, just not dogmatic.
Of course, when you belive it's "natural" it has to keep going.
