The other technique is called "salting."

Basically, the producers add in high value merchandise to create the impression of value that is far above plain old ordinary items.

The most glaring example of this practice were those phony storage unit shows.

If people truly had priceless artifacts they likely wouldn't be keeping them in a storage unit that they couldn't pay the monthly bill for...

Think about it.

Actually yeah that makes sense now..

Depends though if the valuable artifacts you have can become scp

The appraisals are legit, but rehearsed.

If that's true, Pat Contri got insulted even harder than I thought. Pearls before swine.

I guess there's also the chance that the renter, I dunno, died suddenly or something. But that wouldn't happen enough to make a show out of.

!. IDK how many of the fake pawn shop shows there actually were- but one of them was set here in Lost Wages and there was an actual pawnshop.

Now the family behind it are suing each other and the whole situation went to hell in a handbasket.

2. When Bar Rescue came out I briefly suspended disbelief. Briefly. I did watch it for a while, but uhhhhh, ummm....

  • It became very suspicious that the bar owners behaved badly enough to be perfect for outrage!!!

  • It was interesting how the conversations and arguments always were caught from multiple perfect camera angles and the audio was always captured- even in loud bars.(I carry a 4k camera with me every time I leave the house and I know just how difficult it is to get perfect footage and sound- let alone magically being there in perfect position when a spontaneous incident occurs...)

  • The background employees frequently changed in a matter of alleged days- and yet nobody was ever seen hired/fired.

  • Employees learned and mastered entire new menus with only minutes of training.

  • The entire place got a physical makeover in a weekend without a hitch, no permits, no contractor issues, no materials issues, no labor issues...

  • They were able to completely retrain the crew while said construction was happening.

  • When the bar reopens there are practically lines around the block for places that allegedly were bad enough to need a rescue.

  • The place reopens allegedly minutes after they finish painting- and yet nobody smells the paint, gets it on them...

  • Within a weekend deep personal problems are solved and suddenly the whole crew has a fantastic attitude adjustment.

  • The bar magically attracts a higher dollar and better behaved crowd in the same location that previously had been overrun by a bad crowd. The previous bad seeds all went up in a puff of smoke.

  • What else am I leaving out?

It's fake, but not ask fake as others.
The customers are real and the stuff they bring in is real.

Typically the producers set aside a day to film, they interview people who are coming in, and if they like the item, they clean it up, check out it's story, set up the shot, and film the pawn.

The appraisals are legit, but rehearsed.

As far as the three stars, they own the place, so on a typical day they are NOWHERE NEAR the store front. They are show up on filming days to make it seem that they are actually working the floor.

That Hardcore Pawn show, the one in Detroit, was 100% fake. EVERYONE was an actor.
I'm just watching it lol

It's a pawn shop that only buys stuff and never sells anything. In the show you can see the same purchased items sitting on the shelves or hanging on the walls season after season. There are only a few episodes where they actually sell something.

Non the less, It's one of my fav dinner time shows to watch.

Much of so called "reality" TV is staged. I don't know if this particular show is, but it wouldn't not surprise me if much of it were staged.

Pawn stars are real!!
Stranger 12 NOV 2024 a las 5:45 a. m.
I heard the Orginal Pawn Stars and the Original Storage Wars were epics on par with or even exceeding Breaking Bad and every series that's ever crossed a similar threshold.

And also that they were pornos and that England made cheap copies of them, which it presented as Authentically Original. Rather than the cheap copies they were.

I heard the Orginial Pawn Stars even teased this notion; presaged its own destiny. Made the Sex Real. Even when Everyone Involved knew: it was just a Deal being struck. An act. Nothing more.
