Toys and Videos games: Amiibo's vs Skylanders
when nintendo launched amiibo's, every other creator jumped on that wagon and we then got skylanders and everything else. cool idea but some problems, these toys got crazy popular and are highly valuable and recently, it really slowed down and recent games dont even use them any much more. amiibo unlocked things and were really nice and helpful in game.
skylanders was done much differently and if im right, you HAD to buy the toys, the toys were you're character, right? thats psychical dlc, wth. so to play sky landers you need the toys and i heard stories of people trying to get them. you need them cause your character can die and when they do, they need real time to revive so make sure you have extra toys as your lives. this has to be worst then amiibos, having to buy a character instead of already fully playable in game and just be piss easy as lego star wars, you die and respawn instantly, i mean its a kids game, kind of cruel and greedy to play. the bosses and levels didnt look great and monsters got a boost if they are standing in its own territory, but chances are you may not have a fire or water type for the boost and find hidden goodies

I kind of wish they'd repackage those games for like $60 and have every character selectable through a menu in-game or something.

The toys to life genre is so old and dead that surely they won't lose any profit by doing this. No one buys toys to life stuff outside of amiibos, but those barely count since people buy those because they're miniature statues and not for the game support they have.

Also rerelease lego dimensions please kthx

I had Disney infinity, Which was Disney's take on Skylanders.

I have a few of the figures which allowed you to play as that character in game with their own unique moveset, But also power discs which changed the sky, music and even added extra items into the game.

There was also story packs that unlocked new parts of the game.

so yes very much physical DLC, the figures are nice quality though and I use them on display atm since the Steam version of Disney Infinity doesn't have the need for figures as they are all built into the game so no more scanning stuff. However the Steam version is missing some of the story disc content so its not technically the full game sadly.

I meant those kinds of things (skylanders, Disney infinity, etc) don't get bought much anymore. The only exception is amiibo, but thats because they're mini figures of Nintendo games and not because they actually have cool uses within games.
