the snes is just superior, the sound is better, the graphics are better, the games are better, the controllers are better. can the genesis handle 3D graphics? i dont think so. nintendoes what genesis dont.

I think the genesis looks and sounds a lot better personally.
Also the 3D comment is funny considering the genesis launched with a game that naturally pulled off what the snes needed a specific chip for (space harrier 2)

But I will admit that the snes definitely has the more iconic/recognizable library of IPs.

To be fair, the SNES can't technically handle 3D either.

Star Fox required adding an extra processor in the game's cartridge to manage the graphics calculations. And even then, it can only go at about 15fps.

Other games are technically 2D, but cheat using isometric graphics, creating the illusion of depth.

Genesis had a pretty lackluster selection of rpgs. The only one i can ever remember is Phantasy Star 4. Standing next to giants like FF and Chrono Trigger, seems pretty weak in comparison. I had both consoles and SNES got 10x more use.

Stuff with the FX chip may be hard to replicate, yeah.
But something like Mario world could probably be done without much trouble. There's genesis games with a lot more colors being used and more complex level geometry (look at the sonic games, green hill alone has a lot more going on than Mario worlds world 1)

But each console also shoots for different styles. Snes is more colorful and kid friendly while genesis games tended to go for a more edgy or heavily stylized approach (example, comix zone).

Comes down to personal preference at the end of the day, each console has different things they excel at and do better than the other. I personally prefer the more gruff/detailed look that genesis games tended to shoot for as opposed to the snes reliance on bright colors with more simple patterns.

I was a genesis kid and my bro was a snes bro And I'm glad I was genesis . Sonic 2 is a way more a furry game than super mario world. And it had nice music.

Road rash 3 was great
Had a bunch of bloody fighting games like primal rage. And eternal champions that had fatalitizes
and like all your fighters had already died. And they were fighting for a chance to go back and kill whoever killed them,

Streets of rage 3
Xmen game
etc

About all I did on his snes was play Populous or mortal kombat 1/2

I stayed with sega and got burned by sega saturn. Such that I didn't bite the dreamcast bait, And I dodge a bullet there. And cherry on top was many of its games came to gamecube as better versions.
