Why does many US people dislike Anime?
Aren't they just a type of cartoon for entertainment.

1 in 10 doctors are also skeptical of biochemistry’s centrality and suspect it may be a surface level expression of more fundamental processes.

Another 10% believe the concept but suspect the framework is deeply flawed and that our understanding is fundamentally incorrect in some fashion.

Another 20% have no real opinion.

So 50% of doctors believe in foundational medicine like biochemistry.

Cultural appreciation is often just as sporatic for most people.
9 out of 10 dentists like toothpaste, the 10th guy uses charcoal grounded up.

The 10th guy doesn’t brush at all, reasoning that a healthy screen of the right plaques will prevent sugar penetration from occurring and brushing only disrupts the body’s natural defenses. Furthermore, 100% uptime on plaque removal is impossible and the cleaning cycle itself tends to do as much harm as good.

Literally that outlandish and strange and contrary to the usual culture.

Is there anime equivalent of the social commentary and satire of those shows?
Not that I would understand the commentary as I don't live in or really study Japan but I'm wondering if they have that hole pegged.

Yes. Yes there is.
That is kind of funny but "fan made parody"? Does this mean it isn't translated correctly or ?

Fan made on the terms that Team Four Star do not own Hellsing nor are affilated with the studio that has its rights, so properly its a fan made production

Nah the abridged series are making fun of the plot holes in the show, while also being much quicker (hence the abridged name). They're pretty entertaining actually. I like the DBZ abridged a lot. Even the creator of dragon Ball thought the abridged show was funny, and even used elements from the abridged version for dragon ball super.
Sales and subscription figures completely refute the base premise of this entire discussion.
It's written by a different culture that I can't relate to as much. Same goes for media made in Europe, I just don't like them as much as American made stories.

In college I shared a suite with a few hardcore Anime fans. It seemed nearly everything about them had to be anime themed. Anime wall scrolls for decoration. Anime figurines. Anime decals on their computers and stuff. Had their bookcases of anime and manga and only ever wanted to watch anime. Injected anime/japan expressions into normal conversation. Bought special japenese snacks - Pocky I think it was called?

It was a little off-putting but they were nice people and it made them happy so i didn't really care what they were into.

It just seems to be one of those things that people take to extremes more often than not. You are either obsessed with it, or dont want anything to do with it. I've never really met a 'moderate' when it comes to anime. Extremist behavior of any kind tends to put people off so that probably explains why a percentage of people actively dislike it.
Castlevania was okay until they ran out of Warren Ellis’ material, jettisoned all the plotlines, and replaced it with tits blood and gratuitous swear words.

An enormous amount of Japanese anime ends the same way, even if based on a highly successful manga series, so there’s a lot of crap in the medium.

But there’s also a gigantic and well developed market with a lot of internal competition, so there is also a good chance of something actually really solid and good being made.

People tend to see one side or the other, and I appreciate how cognizant Japan is of this phenomenon. I also loathe the people who take advantage of people using it.

Nah, people who dress up as Harry Potter characters and make that their core of their personality are seen as the same as a guy who wears lewd skimpy anime shirts and is obsessed with anime.

If there were grown adults dressing as Spongebob or making that their entire personality with die hard sponge bob fans going to sponge bob conventions and buying lewd sponge bob body pillows, they'd be seen as just as weird.
I'm talking about normal fans that watch them in their home only but since you brought that into discussion, can we also talk about grown men flaunting in their Star Wars, Marvel and the likes in expos and social media? Is this double standards?

There's less stigma attached to being fans of western fantasies and collecting their ♥♥♥♥ to decorate your rooms than anime.

Satire as in parody? Yeah, I can think of the ones based on anime "tryhard" stereotypes like One Punch Man, Hajime no Ippo, Konosuba, Mob Psycho 100 and My Hero Academia.

Law of Ueki criminally underrated affectionate parody of shonen.

Because it's popular to hate things that are popular... "If you can't enjoy it, hate it"

What a bunch of crap. This is one of those annoying generic "arguments" that people bring up when they have nothing better to say.

If it was popular to hate something popular, then that something wouldn't be popular in the first place, don't you think? If it's popular to hate it, that means most people hate it. How can most people hate it while most people like it at the same time?
I love anime and im 30 lol
Various reasons.

The most common is the creepy tendency to sexualize underage girls. Anime often makes an effort to make their show *barely* legal as a result. That's the reason for the average US citizen.

The less common reason is it appeals to a very different culture of groupism. Providing a fantasy for people who probably don't feel unique in their society (I'm talking about Japanese social culture). Because of this, we get tropes that don't appeal to a western audience as much... And it really is the same. Damn. Tropes every time.

I was originally referring to satire of Japanese culture or modern life, sort of like what The Simpsons or South Park did/does.
But Hellsing UA looks pretty good anyway, I'll probably watch some of that, even if it calls itself a fan made parody.
I lived in Japan for a total of 5 years, and I was never a fan of it.
