Top 5 emulators that are easiest/hardest to setup for you?
What are your top 5 emulators you think are the hardest/easiest to setup in order to boot something AND configure input to your external controller and/or wheel if any?

That isn't true.

Ripping copies of games you own is still a grey area in the law for a lot of places. The issue being is that you technically do not own the program you are ripping, only the media the program is stored on.

Some places allow user to make copies as long as they do not distribute them and other places don't. It's still a very grey area.

It is ok to talk about legal emulation, it is not ok to talk about piracy. None seem hard to set up to me, dump your bios, dump your rom, put em in the folders. Click on settings, configure controller.

Sadly there are a few emulators where it's literally impossible to do that without an extensive guide but thankfully they are in the almost extinct category.

Archive.org was sued many times and won each one though sadly there site is becoming more internally broken since a year or so ago.

Anyway duckstation is the best for PS1 games.

No way! Are you kidding?

no it can't if it's about using you're own rips, or using your own disks

as i don't condo pirates

take ps1 disks or ps2, as long as you own, there is nothing wrong with it, even 3ds ndo ds and more if you make backups, or copys it's fine as long as you're the only one using it

lets see based on hardware i'd say the ps3 or xbox 360, but if we're going on older games then it'd be the n64 a few games just won't run without hard tuning, and some of that tuning can brake the emu

I have a lot of old children's programs that sadly aren't on Steam or any digital store. :( Broderbund/Edmark,etc. At least Steam has Humongous Entertainment available so I thought perhaps these other companies would get onboard. I really would love to see a republished Land Before Time game series collection of both console and PC games.

I never did play the console ones so don't know if they are suckier or better but the PC ones are pretty interesting my favorite being Activity Center whch on XP era and up the keyboard is screwy on it.

Oh and they DO have the 1st Logical Journey of the Zoombinis but it has some missing features that could be a make or break situation so if you want to play the original then PCEM is the only way to do it that faithfully recreates the OG hardware.

That's where I'm going with this conversation. Why is the N64 so weird to emulate? What's the deal with that one console? I mean we have PCEM now to have accurate representation of Win9X hardware so why not something like that for N64 requiring heavy single core host power?

Insofar as I recall, the main problem with N64 emulation was trying to emulate games graphically reasonably well - the N64's GPU represents a divergence even from the mainstream at the time (such as it was) and all modern GPU's are descended from... well, not that. So trying to emulate one on the other without extremely weird things happening (like, oops missing textures, or oops now Mario's face is everything) was quite tricky.

It's a hell of a lot better than it used to be!

yeah it's a lot better then it used to be, but tell that to Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber.

the one thing no n64 emu can run, well if at all

well to be fair it's hard do to how some games pushed the hardware past what could be done, plus the expansion pack for n64, and the coding for that is a pain
