What is the brownest, grayest game?

Gears of War started the trend, but looking back, I think Assassin's Creed (the first one) has the most extreme desaturation.

I think you probably mean to ask about a color-filter applied to the game, but that is not actually what was actually asked, so I am pretty much obliged to go with an older two-dimensional computer game because many of them had such a muted color palette. I am not entirely sure which one is quite the brownest and grayest, but tentatively speaking, I would probably have to nominate the original Fallout. I mean, just look at the wastelands and ruins in that game. It is very, very difficult for me to imagine something much browner and grayer than that.

Sure, you have the occasional green to represent toxic ooze and digitized text, some blue shipping containers and some red blood, but for the most-part it could very well just as well be called Brownish Grey: The Video Game, and while people might bat an eyelash since that is a weird name for any game, they would understand immediately once they start playing, or even if they haven't played it at all, like myself, considering that it is one of those games where its reputation precedes it.
