How come Rockstar is way ahead of any AAA game-making company?

They make one game every 5-7 years, but when they make it, dear lord, it becomes a benchmark for other games.

They know,

• the elements on making a good game (engaging gameplay, best plot, fluid game mechanics, alive environment etc.)
  
• the implementation to make a game as realistic as possible.
  
• how to cover a target audience
  
• how to consistently be really good

I cant stop wondering.

I've bought 5 rockstar games and never cared to finish a single one, always got bored half way through. Vice city i might have come close but that was only because it was during a time when i had no other options. Don't know why i bought as many as i did, i guess I just kept falling for the hype. Won't be buying any more though. Not really a good model to follow. I'd be fine if they never released another game.

I finally got RDR2 on Steam last week -- now I finally have zero Rockstar launcher games.

The Steam version let me add the newest DLSS 2.5.1 dll, which the Rockstar launcher version doesn't. Unfortunately the Steam version also introduced audio crackling, which I fixed by changing the in-game buffer options and the bitrate in Windows settings.

But no more Rockstar Launcher is wonderful.

When did that happen? The top negative review (made Jan 2) says the game doesn't work when the launcher can't connect. And the sidebar still says you have to have a Rockstar account.

Requiring the 3rd party launcher is the only reason I haven't picked it up. But your post is the only thing I can find that says it was removed...

While I enjoy RDR series and LA Noire, Rockstar are severely overrated when it comes to their game building overall.

Online GTA 5 is garbage. They have flying motorcycles that shoot missiles killing you every 3 seconds when you respawn. Even if you have a jet it will be hard to shoot them out of the sky because they’re fast as fudge.

Uhm, they've folded towards the woke mob and courts multiple times now, leading all the way back to Vice City (though that was only by court order).

I don't know if you heard, but now any kid with a cheat menu can break your PC if you join online... that's how "good" they are at making games...
So yeah, flying bikes are now the least of your problems.

GTA 5 is from 2013; back when devs put some effort in games.

Cracks really started showing in 2018 onwards; and its the FUBAR mess it is now.

GTA 6 might be good, its a flagship so they should put in the effort, but its no guarantee.

they have good single player experiences

but for online or coop they are literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at doing a good job just rehashing whatever is from single player to make a taped together hastily made coop or online modes.


I'd say that Most of the horror styled action devs like dark souls, dead space, bioshock, and dead rising devs as prime examples usually go above and beyond at time.

sadly they were too good for this world and most have dissolved, been bought out, or disbanded.

I wouldn't say they are, they messed up a remaster of the 3D GTA trilogy and I heard bad things about GTA 5's online mode

I predict GTA6 to have the same idiotic AI for civilians and police that GTA3, 4, 5, San Andreas, and Vice City had. Also the same mission style driven story that feels....disjointed. "kill this one guy because they're dating my daughter". Um, OK, I'll do it but it makes no sense.

And if I missed one, then whatever

LA Noire I never played. Came out forever ago. They haven't made any new ones, and if they do, it'll be a "remaster"

Max Payne. I know the story basically comes to an end but then just come out with a new Max Payne with a different name and character with a different title.

Their storybuilding is meh. "We gotta get more monwy" x1000, and whilst I enjoyed Red Dead Redemption Ii, the story writing could have been way better

Now people just want a remaster of RDRI. Why? So they can screw that one up too? When did people not want new, original games?
