What do you think is the hardest game ever? (Touhou: LoLK)

I believe, of all the thousands of games I have played, the hardest of them all or at least one of them, is Touhou 15: Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom.

You either defeat the Lunatic Kingdom, or lose your sanity.

This game has challenge and insane or lunatic levels of insanity of what it expects you to do. This game can be water downed and easy with the checkpoint system that makes the game crazy easier (because its so insane ZUN had to make a whole new game mode so most people could beat it)

This game simply brings levels of challenge that not a single souls game, or the likes of battle toad could ever bring to the table in sheer skill and power, and it genuinely makes me wonder what games out there are harder.

People used to say Subterranean Animism, but now the peaks of LoLK I believe it can't even scratch at. SA and LoLK are definitely games that are up there at the peak. There are bullet hells that are insanely harder in other series, but I believe LoLK actually saught to possibly be one of the hardest ones ever.

It may not be THE hardest game ever, but it is, likely one of the hardest games ever.

I only found one video in which a person at least tried - and is decent at it. 6:00 mark to get the idea what this is about. Perhaps he is missing some competition, as he only plays vs the AI.

You had to beat the whole thing again after winning the first time to get the ending. Revenge of Shinobi getting the good ending and saving the girl has to be the hardest.

I didn´t know about that - but it looks similar, but there were also Summer and Winter Games, which were more about the rhythm. Erm - at least i heard so. As if i would know with my young age....
So it comes down to the nickname of the games i guess. The nickname of Decathlon is "The Joystick Killer". What´s the nickname of Track & Field aka "Hyper Olympic"? So we know if they´re comparable.

Wait - i did deep research on the topic:

"Shortly after release, Activision's Decathlon drew comparisons to Konami's popular arcade game Hyper Olympic (Track & Field), which was introduced at the Amusement Machine Show a month later in September 1983. According to Cash Box magazine, several people claimed there were "cursory similarities" between the two games."

"The Atari 2600 version of Decathlon was reviewed by Video magazine in its "Arcade Alley" column where it was described as "an absolute triumph of imaginative programming" and as "a masterwork."

Of course i wouldn´t have to add the second quote, because that´s obvious. 10 games in one - no one had that before. Track & Field had 6. :o)

Played the ♥♥♥♥ out of it on the Genesis. Never got the good ending until over a decade later on the Wii. Once you know where the places where you can farm 1ups are, the most important thing is having the weapon powerup active when you exit the maze just before the final boss.

Also, Yuzo Koshio is a god whose name should be alongside Uematsu, Koji Kondo, Totaka and Hip/Chip Tanaka.

Yuzo Koshiro was a genius. There used to be a couple of games on steam called why so evil and why so evil 2 that were deliberately cruel and unplayably difficult.

That is absolutely possibly the one, but this game and some other bullet hells are up there too. We can also add Battle Toads.

IS SA and LoLK not on an even level? These are not normal Touhou games.
