The "type cover" keyboard leaves a bit to be desired. I never could figure out how to properly clean my Alcantara cloth, and then the keyboard started glitching and stopped function after one year of use. At over $120 ea. they are not cheap to replace on an annual basis.
The Bydge Bluetooth Wireless keyboard is nicer, as long as you remember to close it the right way. The clicking of the glass when closing it like a laptop gives me anxiety about it cracking the glass. I put pressure on the hinges directly and it seems fine.
Tablet wise, I've used mine less as a tablet, but having that feature is nice. It was especially nice early on. It is a bit big compared to a modern smart phone, but not too heavy. I enjoyed watching YouTube clips on it, playing music.
I've not used the stylus much on mine. I haven't got "Gimp" configured to support the pressure sensitivity, and Microsoft has done away with the sketching app that drew me to the Surface.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew was one of the few games that really benefited from the internal touch screen. Made me dream of a Surface Studio to play the game. Otherwise for gaming it is either a laptop or low end desktop.
After playing games on my passively cooled fanless Surface Pro 4 it developed "flicker gate", and is no longer usable undocked when in ambient temps above 70F. This "VCR tracking" affects movies, games, and Gimp. Spreadsheets and remote desktop work fine up to 77F ambient temps.
The fanless model is extremely quiet, and very much enjoyable for media consumption. I like it better than my desktop PC with its loud fans.
Works nicely with *buntu
Nice for indie titles.
