What is you favourite Star Trek Series?
Greetings fellow Trekkies, normal enjoyers, dislikers and other human beings watching TV shows!
For quite some time of friend of mine and I are wondering what is considered the best of all Star Trek shows among the fan base. So one day, we decided to look it up in various surveys and on forums, to come to the conclusion that we must have either watched Star Trek with the wrong pair of eyes equipped or that teletext surveys just ain't doing it. So I decided to ask you guys out there, what you consider to be the best of all Trek!

In order to allow an easier transfer from your comments into my excel table, I would politely ask you to make the name of your pick, the header of your comment.
Feel free to also give a reason for why you think so, and maybe even name your favourite episode right beneath!

Qapla' tlhIH puj be'Hom!

To me thats actually a big part of the OGs personality and I love everything about it.
the garage or the black/gay cast?

Well, the garage sets look, Uhuras thighs and of the gay cast I only know Zulu, but having seen him waving around a rapier without a shirt and the facial expressions of a lunatic was worth it.

Does Babylon 5 count?

Still gotta watch it some day, but as it is basically the DS9 plot in different colour it might count

Gonna agree on the "Voyager is a bad show" thing, Janeway is just a poorly written captain in a setting which doesn't look or feel like Star Trek, with morals which don't follow Star Trek principles..

The bouffant made up for it though :steammocking:

lol... there's some charm to it I suppose.

though you're taking to someone who won't watch the godfather because it's in black and white so also passing on garage star trek :P

let me just break down the relevant facts about the star trek series...sss

star trek OG series - too old and mostly filmed in a garage... props on the black and gay cast tho.
star trek TNG - the perfect balance between plot and actually having a set
star trek voyager - the entire series is based on the fact that janeway is a ♥♥♥♥♥.
star trek DS9 - it's a sitcom version of star trek...
star trek enterprise - gattling lasers... nuf said.
star trek picard - that was fun?
star trek w.e else - money grab.

the movies:
OG box set - old and boring thing my dad liked
those other 3 movies with generations and whatnot - gud movies!
modern star trek that plays rage against the machine on an "old earth record" - kill me now.

disagree on the hate on voy.
the tech in it was refreshing.. and the dilemmas in it were well played out.

i watched tng and voy and ent as they aired a whole lot of seasons of tng and voy overlapped.. so for most my youth i had each week 2 new eposides.. untill the death of star trek in 2005 when ENT was pulled.

(rating for ENT were really high in my nation and I hate how its always the usa vieuwers that determine if a show gets pulled.. not those abroad) I liked the early history stuff could have done without the whole temporal cold war stuff and would have loved the plannet 6th and 7th seasons that would actually go over the romulan cold war and the actual creation of the federation.

ds9 I hated when it aired young me not liked it so refused to watch as it aired but grew on me when older still i think it less than voy and tng..

tos was long before my time and I always hated.
-to fake looking, to corny, to unscientiffic..
tos only has 3 episodes

I respect it for allowing the later tng.. but boy was it bad..

star dreck ret@rd.. and star dreck -pizza slicer are not star trek.

to me orville is more true star trek than anything made after STE
i think TNG had the best stories but the first season is rough.

also i liked the period of technology that they live in. enterprise is second due to the good cast. enterprise for fleshed out what the start of faster than light travel looks like, and how they get taken for a ride by higher spec civilizations.

EDIT: actually changing my order, one sec.

voyager is third, but mainly because i didnt really like janeway's hair or voice. kinda felt like janeway got upstaged by cha'ko ... tey? the cool guy, and the borg drone woman sometimes.

the romance undertones were pretty greasy though, hard to watch.

Well, your good right to do so, but you're surely missing out on something then!

If it helps you might wanna approach TOS
as a comedy series (a few reasons for the why of it we're already posted in the first few thread pages;) )
Considering a comedy is nothing but a tragedy+time this might even be a *logical* evolution for 60 years old sci-fi series

I'd agree there were some interesting plots and tech stuff in voyager, which is why I'll still watch it... but the entire premise of the series is "janeway is a karen who was too woke to save her crew and then compromomised her princibles anyways so she was really just a ♥♥♥♥♥ and the whole series was pointless"

voyager is kinda where star trek made the transition from actually having a good plot to just being about the asthetics... that's why I say TNG was the sweet spot. also patrick stewart is just amazing in everything.

I didn't even watch enterprise after the gattling laser TBH... it was too much and so bad I couldn't.

I forget the whole thing behind it, but they had a major shift in the production after the first season or 2. so ya, it's not really the same show even TBH :P

So i have to ask what is your opinion about captain Janeway especially after the Tuvix episode?

well she could have cloned tuvix by causing a transporter accident on purpose.. causing them all 3 to live..
but that would have costed her her coffee;)

Enough nebula's.

Sounds like skipping DIS after the first 5 minutes was a wise choice indeed
