What is you favourite Star Trek Series?
Greetings fellow Trekkies, normal enjoyers, dislikers and other human beings watching TV shows!
For quite some time of friend of mine and I are wondering what is considered the best of all Star Trek shows among the fan base. So one day, we decided to look it up in various surveys and on forums, to come to the conclusion that we must have either watched Star Trek with the wrong pair of eyes equipped or that teletext surveys just ain't doing it. So I decided to ask you guys out there, what you consider to be the best of all Trek!

In order to allow an easier transfer from your comments into my excel table, I would politely ask you to make the name of your pick, the header of your comment.
Feel free to also give a reason for why you think so, and maybe even name your favourite episode right beneath!

Qapla' tlhIH puj be'Hom!

The first one. It's the only one I've watched a few episodes of and I enjoyed the cheeseyness (spelling?) of it all.

Unfortunately it's not available with Amazon Prime anymore. We lost Star Trek and The Andy Griffith show.

That is because Paramount got greedy and yanked it off other platforms

The original series.

Influenced by Martin Luther King Jr., Biracial kiss, Admirals who were windbags and had no concept of how to run a starship, showed issues relevant to the times, was willing to be controversial.

TOS to ENT are all available on Netflix for quiet some time already.

TOS sadly only in the "new SFX" version

But I'm currently trying to grow a collection of at least TOS to DS9 so I can quit my Netflix subscription.
The amount of money they already got from me starts to hurt everytime they try to get into one of their Netflix Originals, but I'm straying away from the topic here

Netflix is the Star Trek streaming service to go, but it's never wrong to own physical property

Hard to decide when one is the best, but Star Trek stopped being good after the Enterprise series and I haven't watched it further.

The original Star Trek has a special cult status and for that reason it's still good.

I loved Next Generation back in the day, but watching the now it is actually quite mediocre in every way.

DS9 was cool because of the Ferengi characters and episodes, I hated the dramatic shapeshifter episodes though.

Voyager was pretty cool and I espeically loved the double episodes. It was just a great story that the starship was thrown into the Delta Quadrant and had to get back to Earth somehow.

Enterprise I like the most even though it's less deep and involving than Voyager. My country is broadcasting the reruns now and I noticed that it has quite some episodes with 'revealing ladies' in it haha. In the episode 'precious cargo' the female guest actress (the princess) had no underwear under her dress and in the fight scene at the end you saw basically everything. And there were at least half a dozen episodes like that. So yeah, thats the best one

So where the reruns. There not on npo 1 to 3, or rtl or sbs. No reruns in our country. Maybe another channel.
It's broadcasted on Paramount Network in the Netherlands (Sci-Fi Sunday).

Well to bad for me. I don't have a subscription, to that channel. Did you name yourself btw after the groundkeeper of starfleet academy.

I'm not familiar with the newest installments (I watched it up to Enterprise), so my favorite is Deep Space 9.

Which is kind of interesting -- I expected it to be a Babylon-5 ripoff, and a bad "Star Trek" because a station doesn't "Trek".

Still, they only ripped one thing off Babylon-5 -- the whole thing felt less episodic than previous Star Trek, and developed into an actual ongoing story eventually.

you missing nothing;)

after abrahamverse first came the big sell off of all props and sets for all series and movies.
-this basicly made it impossible to ever build forward on that ever again.
*the movies than released, starting by star trek in 2009 was horrible.
collectively called "the abramverse"
-it ignored canon, it destroyed canon retroactively, it had the look and feel more of star wars than the hard scifi star trek is known for (with nonsence of infinite range transporters (despite that deemed impossible in earlier canon.. + the fact that such a technology that basicly would END the need for ships completely.. and boost the federation to iconian level civilization.. it is never mentioned ever again...
the next movie.. basicly cures death permanently by using mirracle blood (that can be syntisized) basicly removing the need for doctors.. yet again it never is mentioned again..
-
plotholes like that and deux ex machina tools like that ruined star trek already... and vieuwing numbers showed.. so over a decade they did nothing with star trek as the desire for it was killed of by this abrahamverse nobody cared for or wanted.

Under new investment.. but sadly under woke directors who care nothing for the investors money that fund them, nor for the lore, actually hating the old lore.. well you know woke.. it ruins property beyond fixable..
*** 3 series are now basicly paralel launched..
-star trek discovery
-star trek lower decks
-star trek picard

all 3 are bad.
-lower decks is likely the least evil of the 3.. dont expect anything that feels like true trek.. but more a saturday afternoon cartoon.. following a few kids goofing off. its nothing like the earlier animated series that was true trek episodes but only without the cost of filming.
If you dont see it as trek.. but just as a cartoon.. it is watchable.

-than star trek discovery.. well take all the things abrahamverse did wrong.. x10.. so more plotholes and deux ex machinas and conflicts with the establised lore.. + even conflicts within its OWN lore.. add to that a female antogonist thats basicly "the bestest ever" lesbian female of colour.. and the constant making every white male incompetent + if they do use historical lore they rewrite it to match this woke concept.. well you get the drill. than there is the horrible way klingons are depicted thats NOTHING like they should look.. + nothing like they should behave.. and a general flawed and bad federation.. not the idealistic future that star trek was known for.. the optimistic best we as humans can be.. but a grim future where we have learned nothing and degressed socially and morally.. it just aint trek.
than to add insult to injury you have a ship powered by a space amoeba who travels by folowing space pollen.. by using as driver the homosexual male engineer (whoems black dominant parner is not that fond of that move)..
than traveling to the future.. where this tech somehow is unknown to the than federation despite having invented it?.. and traditional warpdrive is dead cause an imature mentally unstable alien had a hissyfit on a deuterium crystal planet??
it is ridiculous and has nothing to do with trek.. it is woke propaganda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over star trek.. driving it into the ground.

-star trek picard is worse in other ways..
**while it has less of the woke wanking of discovery.. what it does do is effectively rewrite the character and mind of so many TNG and VOY characters.. ruining even those old series.
any respect you had for picard is gone if you watch this..
and it still has a MAYOR plothole.. -> at the end of season 1 an android create an emitter by using alien instructions.. to signal mechanical to portal in.. who to protect artificial life will purge out universe of all biological life.
she hangs up this phone.. but that makes no sence.. its these ALIENS tech that showed how to contact them.. it was the aliens that than opened a portal. and they now know the location.. as such.. after this.. logic says the universe is dead. and any episodes after this are a lie.
picard is also killed and turned into an android.. so it aint even the true picard anymore..
-it is bad..
to not ruin your enjoyment of TNG, VOY and the likes.. evade picard.

And the worst of all, they gonna keep on going with it as they still hold the Star Trek license until 2025, if not even a few years more. I assume that we will be faced with another few years of Trek over saturation, giving us hope for a competent writer to deliver the next real installment since ENT, but I'm afraid it will be just another hip bunch following whatever political agenda is trendy then

Oh man one more thing, it's my opinion but when we knew more and more about the Borg they got less and less scarier, like whats up with that, like why the Borg needed a Queen and stuff like that
I agree. They were more scary when they were essentially a faceless enemy acting as one collective mind. Adding the queen was completely unnecessary and cliche.

while I not mind the queen as much as some.. what makes the borg borg should be explained..

if you merely merge 10 billion free wills into 1 collective will.. the first act they likely do is de-assimilate everyone or fraction into multiple smaller collectives.. as they not wish to be 1.

so there must be a central.. programming.. something that supresses the desire for freedom in ALL in the collective.. as the billions assimalated against their will outnumber the ones who joined volentairely by a large margin.

the obsession with "perfection" likely is also part of that programming..

so I'd say that there is an artificial intelligence that runs the borg.. a basic protocol not coming from any individual linked up.. but running the show..

giving this basic protocol full AI.. and a voice... in the form of a borg queen.. did not bother me that much..

TOS
TNG
DS9
Animated (70's)
ENT
VOY
...
Anything that came after (all that streaming stuff) is not Trek in my mind, it's something else borrowing the name.
