He helped Tosk
He kept DS9 running as a one man engi-army
He was the hero of Setlik III
He sacrificed his life, so his former future self could return to the past
He is a straight up professional on the battlefield
And he is Irish (as a friend of all that is irish this would probably be reason enough already)
I gotta admit that his character was pretty bald in TNG though
those are the most anoying creatures out there.. cannot stand idiots.. and they just are portraid in a way I want to purge all pakleds like klingons purge them tribbles..
Now William Shatner, there's a guy you want to meme with. I've only seen a bit of the original series, and it does have it's moments too. But at least the star of the show uses 4chan.
He's a big guy.
>inb4 the reference is not got
Plus William Shatner got around on set while filming with all the ladies..... He also took a ride in a rocket ship last year
-ya, but it was a station... and he had supplies and ♥♥♥♥?
-not really overly familliar with setlik 3 other than having heard it mentioned without much explanation
-so he didn't actually sacrafice himself... people are physically destroyed and re-created every time they beam somewhere
-so is warf
-ok... he's irsh.
he really didn't do *that* much... not to say there's anything wrong with him... but he could just as easily have not been there and the plot could have worked around it.
Can't remember a Gatling either, you sure were watching ENT?
if it wasn't that I'd have watched it more >.>
Without O'Brien DS9 wouldn't be the same to me, the best Episodes likely feature him as a main protagonist and it is mentioned quiet often that noone knows how he keeps DS9 running, as only he got bajoran, cardassian and federation tech work together, and unlike beaming he really, knowingly and intentionally sacrifices himself more than once.
And unlike worf he doesn't have to put on an angry face to be professional or look dangerous (but that might be cause I've never been a big worf fan)
but in reality like... really? o'brian is the only one that could keep the station running? like if admiral paris or commander janeway had ordered him to instruct someone else on how to maintain DS9 he'd have led a begorin/cardassian mutiny on a federation station when there are no cardassians around and odin is breathing down his neck? odis could have just shape shifted into a new reactor ffs... problem solved.
Whenever he leaves the station for more than a day whole DS9 breaks apart,
which is probably also the reason why he leaves off to become a university lecturer at the starfleet academy once the war has ended
The ♥♥♥♥ does swood mean anyhow?
not communist, in communism all is property if everyone.
post scarcity technocracy.
many goods can be replicated.
every citycen of the federation gets a number of energy credits to use to repicate whatever they want.
however many other goods can not be replicated and are scare..
*everybody can be given a house but mansions in france or apartments in san fransisco are limited goods.
homecooked meals, antique relics.. are other non scarse goods..
and services like transporters is or fast ferry to other planets is for the army (aka federation) only.
civilians can get the scraps and take slow public transport for their commute..
these scarse goods are often handed out as favors.. used to generate pull to get favors back later.. so its not money thats traded in the federation its influence..
even in the clear command structure of the "army" more often than not its this favortism that get things done over clear protocol.
the one thing that shows the 1984 aka technocratic side of the federation when people wish to leave the federation....
and energy credits are rationed when energy is in short supply.. so its more lile a base income.... but one that cannot be used to buy the true scarse goods.
its not the federation has no money or cannot do trade...
its just energy is so plentifull the federation can on many worlds give you free housing.. better housing cannot be bought just gifted by rank or by pleasing the right people.
same with food, clothing, transportation, healthcare..
so you basicly only need money when dealing with non feds or on the outskirts. colonies where energy is still scarse..
