Metroid Prime Remaster is real
I am happy now.
That is all.

Spread the word!

The remaster has the advantage of using a new engine, which in fact allows more modern lighting and other effects the old game two centuries old doesn't support.
Most likely the same engine retro will use for Metroid Prime 4.

Perhaps this is partly due to the fact that I don't play many modern / recent AAA titles, but from what I saw of it, Metroid Prime Remastered is quite honestly one of the most visually impressive games I think I've ever seen. And I think it comes down largely to that lighting engine, because that aspect of the remaster stood out to me more than any of the texture / model improvements did. I can't think of another game where I remember lighting looking as good as the stuff in that trailer.

While it has decent lighting. I think there are a lot of games out there that does it better.
It is an impressively looking title on the Switch though.
Retro did a fine job on updating the graphics without compromising their vision on the artstyle.

What someone said really clicked with me: "Metroid Prime Remastered looks like we remembered it, not like it actually looked".

Yeah... the same people who thought the 3D All-stars was actually going to be new ports and remasters... they ended up being tweaked ROMs basically running in an emulator. I've seen Prime Trilogy with a remastered HD texture pack running in full 1080P widescreen and fully controllable without a mouse. Now people are getting all excited over Nintendo offering them what has been available for years. Good grief.

The graphics were certainly upgraded.
Although i missed two instances of downgrades.

The charge beam no longer illuminates the surroundings, which is weird considering dynamic lighting exists and is used with other fauna on Tallon IV.

And mirrors somehow don't show Samus anymore.

Admittedly, they are minor points. Maybe fixed with an update.

You're seeing the difference between 480p and 1080p. That is about it... and you can play the original in 1080P that the video is conveniently leaving out of the comparison to make the remaster look better than it actually is.

There has also been HD texture packs out for the original games.

Prime remaster is out though, people have played it, and it isn't just scaled to a higher resolution or simply retextured.

You're either uninformed or being intentionally disingenuous just for the sake of being a pessimist.
