It's funny watching companies try to take a more righteous stand against stuff, yet this can all be solved by teaching kids that people are naturally rude and most of these insults are just smoke and mirrors. Phrases meant to get under your skin.

And, well, it's working. Clearly.

Here’s what I think is happening here: Ubisoft will give their customers over to the police if they decide you have committed a crime. In 99% of cases no charge will be forthcoming, but the police will log it as a ‘Hate Incident’ (not ‘crime’). They may go after one or two, but it will be used to pump up the ‘Hate Crime’ figures that they use to smash the public into submission with.

It's called PC gaming for a reason. Saying gamer words to other gamers isn't very PC.

I can't wait until killing NPCs is made a criminal offence.

Stasi lebt!

Well seems singleplayer only is the way to go.....oh and ill just keep ignoring Ubisoft entirely like i did anyway. Necromorphs just cant stop killing fun as always.

You can't! Thanks to Ubisoft's always-online DRM, even insulting NPCs is now is a crime. ;P

Didn't valve as a april fools thing turn on peoples mics when they died in a game even if they had them off or push to talk?

Now they can just listen in on your room while you play... in the future they will have chips and monitor what you are thinking... Ohh getting too violent time to go play in the daisies outside for a while.

Don't know about that, but Valve has a history of pulling April Fool's pranks on their customers.

This would take it a bit too far, but still much less harmful than getting in bed with the government.

It was a good heads up letting us know what can be done also...

How about sending the police for actual crimes?

It really is frightening to think about.

A few years back some friends and I were hanging out in a Team Speak chat room in a clan group thing.

This guy comes in the room not from the clan, we were kind of doing our thing joking around while playing .. I think it was PD2 at the time.. anyway I just launching into this routine about how the slave in the basement is acting up etc and of course my friends just play along for a while and then this guy just flips out we have hostages in our basement as slaves etc.

It was hilarious when he stormed out.. he could have played along and joined in the comedy but he chose to be offended. The group manager came in and we explained and all had a good laugh over it.

So taking something just said online without any physical evidence is just witch hunting of the worst kind.

Are they going to have the police hand out tickets for swearing next? Just send it by email I suppose, fines by email. Keep it automated and cheap split between the cops and the corp.

And since you let that happen and they are there anyway may as well make it illegal to swear in the privacy of your own home alone. Must make you proper 24/7 for a safer world.

Just more censorship and people complaining about “toxicity” online.

This sounds really funny, people are gonna abuse that system.
Entity 2023 年 2 月 8 日 上午 8:06

The police will. They use these fake ‘hate incidents’ to try to shame the public and pretend the issue is worse than it is. They were told by the Home Secretary to stop doing this, but the police themselves don’t care for lying to the public about the real figures. They lie and cause so much division now that eventually the police will fall and it will be a private service. The public will not be very forgiving of ex-coppers then, as those coppers have helped to put them at risk.

Pfft, they can't even develop an FPS game, or keep their projects afloat. Anybody who knows anything about Ubisoft knows they don't have the brainpower to make silly garbage like this work.

If Siege's chat filter is anything to go by, Ubisoft is going to end up with fines for false reporting, and they're going to send the system to hell, in about the same amount of time it took them to come up with this idea.

Next thing you know they'll have you wearing a PIC (Personal Identification Collar) that uses a webcam to check your face and communicates with a biometric implant before the game can launch, just to verify you own the product and it's not your friend you invited over playing something they haven't purchased. No, what do you mean you just want to play your games like you did back in the day?! You can't just get some people together and play Super Smash Bros! They're pirates, they're using a product they don't own, it's highly immoral. You have to do your part if you want to keep being part of society, put on the collar. For a limited time, you can have your very own PIC for only 29.99, it even comes styled like all your favorite titles. You can't afford not to! Order your very own PIC now!

Overextending an underfunded, understaffed, and probably untrained police force in the name of a Corporation, what could possibly go wrong? I do think eventually Corporations might end up having their own "private" police force aka mercenaries.
